Totally make believe, and I know British Orienteering do this in part (and I am not actually proposing a physical reward) but how about nominations and reasons for,
best single day race in the UK in 2019 and
best map run on in the UK in 2019?
Any one else want to suggest any other categories?

How about British Night Champs for both!
Could add best Long, Middle and Sprint races as categories.

For pure enjoyment, the Tim Watkins Trophy on Silver How was the best race I did this year by quite some distance.

I’d like to change my nomination for course of the year. Left it late again, but Steve Dempsey nails it for the second year running!

Re: 2019 Awards
For most fun as a participant, my best day was the Airienteers evening event as part of the Race the Castles series back in August: first half indoor orienteering round Bradford Grammar School, and second half a sprint race round Lister Park. Both were superbly planned, and were an absolute ball.
In terms of best map, I would nominate one I didn't actually compete on, but had the privilege of controlling: Quentin Harding's new (and enlarged at 1:4000) version of Brimham Rocks, which enabled the area to be used to the full for the first time since first mapped back in the 70s. Feedback from the event was consistently positive - and spectating proved highly entertaining!

Certainly enjoyed the race, I do love oruenteering on these sort of maps which make you concentrate all the time and force you to simplify where possible to increase speed but punish you if you don't get the level of detail you take in right. It also allows me to get away with not being particularly fit...
As for maps I can't help thinking you need different categories. At least classic, urban and 'other' which I think this one would fall into.
