COMPASS SPORT CUP RESULTS
Winners declared yesterday afternoon but now Monday morning and no results yet issued. Maybe they are somewhere obscure on the website, but not under MV, BOF or WinSplits. Is this really a Level A event if results not yet published? Maybe there is a results issue or complaints being dealt with?

Re: COMPASS SPORT CUP RESULTS
OK, I'll bite:
After 2 days on site getting things ready followed by 3 hours dismantling and 1 hour driving I was home by 19:00. I then unloaded the car and helped unload the van (which had 3 marquees, 2 tents, 2 generators(heavy duty) and all the other site kit) and finally got in the house at 20:00. I then decided to have some food and a bath before checking through all the results to make sure none of those listed as DQ (for any reason) fell into the criteria of
A. running with the wrong (i.e. not registered by the club captains because they were new (usually SIAC) card and thus had no start time.
B. Running with 2 cards and having some register on one or the other but not both.
This was finished by about midnight so I went to bed rather than send anything to the Webmaster. I didn't wake up until after your stupid comment was made.

The Course results are now on the BO site and on RouteGadget (at https://www.mvoc.routegadget.co.uk/rg2/#73 ). They will appear on the MV website and in Winsplits and SplitsBrowser when the webmaster gets in from work. The MV website will have full team results for the Cup and Trophy.

Quite right too.

It is a volunteer sport in case ianandmonika had forgotten and a little bit of understanding might have been called for. This part of their comment is crass and an example of the abuse that puts volunteers off. I would recommend if not already done, that ianandmonika contact MIE directly to apologise.

In case this is the only thread about the CSC Final, it should be noted that it was a really enjoyable event with a decent “big race’ feel to it. Thanks to the volunteers who did a great job!

Re: COMPASS SPORT CUP RESULTS
Now that the results have been published it would appear that course 10 has not been scored for the Cup competition though it has for the Trophy.

A really enjoyable event and it was clear a lot of effort went into the day. It did really have that "big event" feel. Thanks to all involved.
Re results, in any case, there was only one real result that mattered and you could read FVO's facebook page if you want more info ....

Well since you ask, and its nopesport...
There was plenty to like, the courses, the map, weather, the arena, the atmosphere and the competition. And most of us have had the experience of tying up the loose ends of results and fiddling with routegadget when we're tired at the end of a long day. But Ian has a point that the results were available in time for the prize giving*, and the arena had 4G, so why not share them? Why take a request as a personal insult when clearly that's not what's intended?
As for the commentary, sorry, but this is a team competition and you should be concentrating on the team scores, not who did some good training in the summer . Our team score was never read out, just "interlopers are now third". To get excited, we need to know if its close! The results display mixed up Trophy and Cup runners, so even people who can count and add up couldn't work it out. There was no display of the ongoing team positions and scores, though obviously the commentary had it (I still can't find it). I understand it requires a bit of bespoke coding ahead of time, but please can we get this right next year? Specifically, display the results and gear the commentary for the competition that's actually taking place.
* Though it looks like they weren't finally checked, in which case more kudos to MV for prioritising getting the prize giving done before everyone had gone home.

Can I, on behalf of Claro, thank everyone from Mole Valley for a very enjoyable event. Just ignore all the moaners who need to know how many points they are losing by in order to get excited. What are they going to do bout the deficit anyway? It isn't as if you can pop out into the forest and help them go faster... We all thought it was a terrific event so WELL DONE to all involved.

Re: COMPASS SPORT CUP RESULTS
RE: Course 10 Scoring : There was a typo (by me !! ) in the XML code for the Cup results. This has now been fixed and a new set of results will be posted, but probably not until later today. The coding error makes no material difference to the results. Those TM's that have already contacted me with their polite (yes, they were polite and even apologetic) requests will receive a PDF copy of the list. Note that the coding error was not present in the Trophy results extract so the Trophy scores are unaffected.
For those of you who are unable to find the Team scores -- they are at the very end of the "simple" results list on the MV website.
There have been a number of observations regarding the "leader" of Course 6, an M16, who managed, despite our best efforts, to pick up the wrong map. When he finished the timing system (people and software) put him onto Course 6. His result does not go into the Team scores and AFAIK there is no rule that says he must or should be "disqualified" (unless the Nopesport readers know differently (opinions don't count only the rules!!))

Thankyou -- but MV were helped by SAXONS (a finalist club by right), members of DFOK and members of SLOW and they also deserve thanks.

Re: COMPASS SPORT CUP RESULTS
I think Graeme's suggestion about the live updates quite a good one, that would definitely add further to the excitement and the team atmosphere.
I also think it's perfectly reasonable for online results to be the next day for this event. On the day team results and prize giving was pretty prompt, and prize giving was attended by a good sized crowd (seemed like most of the competitors) with whole club photos for the trophy/cup club winners.
Mike - is it possible to also display the points scored for all competitors by trophy/cup/class like the SE heat https://www.saxons-oc.org/results-archi ... rophy.html ?
Is this a switch that can be pulled in autodownload somewhere? Club captains would probably value the feedback to see if their competitor/course selection decisions paid off.
Thank you also to all the volunteers. The CompassSport Cup/Trophy is by far the best team/club competition in the sport at the moment IMHO. How about more such events? Quarter finals, semi finals and the final?

There doesn't seem to be a rule against letting people run the wrong courses. This is probably an oversight, but maybe there is an intention to let people who weren't going to score anyway have a nicer time by running down? Or to let some prerunners take part?
But the rules do say you must use your allocated start time, so if you don't have an allocated start time on course 6, then you broke the rules and should be DQed.
There's a reason: taking the wrong map can affect the fairness of a team competition. Aside from potentially denying the last starter a map, when they run out. Worse someone could "accidently" pick up the wrong map and run round helping a clubmate.
(Evidently this wasn't the case here)
