Re: The JK 2019
Let's face it, the data from emit is nonesense in alot of places. No controller or organiser can be expected to search through every single split of all entries and catch all these errors that emit have submitted as "results". I would expect there to be at least an admission of the problems and an apology from emit. But where is it? I'm not talking about any apology from the controllers / organisers / co-ordinators who are the VOLUNTEERS who are having to deal with a lot of this mess. Where is the apology from emit?

I notice on the https://raceprogress.com website it proudly says
'Emit UK - when time counts'
perhaps they should alter it to 'Emit UK - when time stands still'

Surely that should be Emit - time backwards?

What do we think the chances are of the results being good enough to be submitted for ranking points? Having had some decent runs it would be a right pain to miss out.

I really hope they are not using Emit for the London marathon!
Is there any chance that the overall combined results will show all the classes & not just the elite?

You can get these by clicking on the 'class results' tab at the top. Only viewable in 'desktop' mode, so if viewing on a phone you need to amend settings before you can see them.

During the hours I spent (as controller) checking times and splits for the Day2 results this week there was a common occurrence of 20 minutes being removed from a competitor's total time and no split times existing for the first 20 minutes of their race. I would suggest that the above lady actually took 42:22.
A systematic error like this indicates a fundamental flaw in the technology or software, rather than competitor error. It ought to mean that the system is ruled out for major events until the error is acknowledged, resolved, and retested at a large number of lower level events.
In addition any decent system ought to flag such results automatically for review. If the controller has to manually search 2500 results it probably inevitably means that some will be missed.
On Day 2 there are still some people apparently completing the course successfully, but:
- missing single splits; could have used a back-up pin punch, so be valid (but may still indicate a temporary tag failure);
- with no splits at all, so looks odd; (this has happened to me with Emitag before: DSQ, but on complaint given a printout from the tag showing I had been to every control in the correct order; put down to possible low battery in the tag at download). Or did some novices pin-punch every control?
- taking only a few seconds to cover the first 5 or 6 controls; almost certainly still incorrect, probably with the problem mentioned above.

The JK results web site now says:
'Results were re-published at 17:00 on 29th April with all reported anomalies corrected.'
So I looked at the splits for my age class to see where I did well and less well and found a very speedy W70 had taken 1 second to get the the first control on the middle distance race - I must do some more speed work

Re: The JK 2019
Chiltern Challenge this year used the same system with EmiTag and supposedly the same software, so what went wrong between the two events.
Quote from the controller for the event "The emiTag was used as a preparation for the JK and based on this event, the JK should be something to look forward to".
The EmiTag was also used at the West Midlands Compass Sport cup round and the organiser declared it to be 100% reliable in his writeup, but they did used Mercs software to process the results.

Re: The JK 2019
There’s a note on the results page about timed out road crossings but I can’t see the adjustment for this in people’s times on Day 3.

This is the default when they don't have a split but reinstated someone. You'll find a long split to #2.

Re: The JK 2019
So if these are the "final" results why does the winning team on Mixed Ad-hoc relay have 6 runners and appears to have taken more than 2 hours longer than the 2nd team?
And whichever class you select in the class results on the combined results gives "Nothing to display" ?

Yet the JK website still says they're provisional and being checked - and the TempO results are only for the Elite class. (I know these were published on the BO website initially because the results site was so slow, but you'd expect everything now to be on the results site.)

The results have appeared on the BOF results page now. No rankings points as yet.
I note, however, that the Day 3 results still include the 'timed out' road crossings.
