My daughter was also very, very disappointed to have been DSQ for missing a control. When going through her plan for that control she realised that she had indeed missed it...
She then decided that she had enjoyed the run immensely (reflecting on how she felt at the finish prior to download). In the car on the way home she announced that she wants to do more technical O trg [we don't do enough]! A good day and outcome in the end for us despite the mishap... I hope EMIT can resolve the other issues quickly where the runner is not at fault. Personally, I've never experienced a mis-punch with the EMIT tag however, I touch every control and check the red flashing light at every control [I watched far too many runners not doing so today]. Thanks all involved in the organisation... role on Day 2!

Around 15% on each course DQ - most with 'missed' controls. Thanks to all the volunteers for staging the event, but this has to be the last time Emittag is allowed to be used for a major event in the UK.

Elite Course 1 - there were 7 of 168 competitors who missed controls; Elite course 2 only 2/117... not checked the others... this doesn't seem any higher than other events. The results are still provisional?

17% on course 7 where they don't carry a backup is high

Re: The JK 2019
I think a lot of the elites have been reinstated just because it looks a bit embarrassing to disqualify so many elites. Because I didn’t go to number 14 and I have been reinstated, so I expect to get pulled out of the results again.
If an elite has a missing punch, and it is not on their emitag or their back up emitag, they probably didn’t punch the control. If a non-elite has a missing punch but they say they were there and the splits make sense, they probably went there. if you are going to start reinstating people cause you don’t want it to look embarrassing, I suggest you start with these people.
My daughter turned 9 in January. At that age when you are told at the finish you are being disqualified for a missing punch you don’t think that something is clearly wrong with the punching system, you think that there are a bunch of adults at the finish calling you a liar, and then it doesn’t seem like such a fun sport!
*. Everything else about the day was great. Much appreciated. Liked the courses, organisation was really good. Thanks.

Can EMIT results not show splits for those disqualified? That way we could gain some comfort out of knowing how we were doing up to the point of disqualification.

I was dns at the JK sprint this year (makes a change from mp) but judging from AP and comments of club members it was a (predictable) shambles - good luck for the next few days!

Re: The JK 2019
At two controls my EMIt tag didn't flash. Fortunately I was checking this so went back and punched again. No disqualification but certainly time wasted which shouldn't have been, and several places down as a result.
Really don't like or trust the system.

Re: The JK 2019
I learned a lot from viewing the Youtube links on the final details about how to punch using Emitag.
Touching the control and pulling your hand away quickly is not recommended!

A bit the same here - not sure whether my Emit tag flashed or not (maybe I didn't look soon enough after leaving the control, or just couldn't see it in the bright sun) so, knowing there were a lot of DQs, I went back to be sure. I think SIAC is certainly the better touch-free option (albeit not without its own problems): the flash, I think, is brighter and the beep gives a much more positive confirmation in bright conditions.
There also seem to be some issues with the Temp-O Standard Class results - number of incorrect controls doesn't look right for my own and a few others I checked.

Can one navigate to the splits times? If so how?
The website is generally rubbish. Very slow to load even when it's working, and no badge times which SI results does automatically (I presume, since they're always up immediately).
The live results for day 2 also show an alarming number of weird times, and comments about negative splits. I feel sorry for the organisers, no doubt there's a lot to sort out...

Re: The JK 2019
I had a late start on Day 1, and before the start people were talking about the number of DQs; there were suggestions that it was caused by punching two controls within too short a space of time (opinions differed as to what the limit was). The last two controls on most (all?) courses were pretty close together, and I had a look at the splits there for some of the fastest classes. The lowest credible split was 6 seconds, but one or two people were given 1 second for the penultimate leg and an obviously inflated split for the last leg. These were all in the elite classes, so maybe that's how they handled using the backup emit tag, but it does make you wonder whether some of the tags couldn't record two punches less than 6 seconds apart. I was also told that there were two sorts of tag, and that the elites got one of each, while the others all had one of the types; I don't know whether that's also a factor. The controller's comments should make interesting reading.
