Something you dont see every day
Someone orienteering with a dog, not on a lead but with a muzzle....Got me thinking could dogs be trained to sniff out controls like triuffles?
Orienteering - its no walk in the park

Re: Something you dont see every day
I was once on a squad training in Bishop's Wood and we could hear the sounds of a hunt nearby. Halfway round a course a lost gun dog appeared in front of me, nose to the ground and it proceeded to run just ahead of me all the way to the next control. True story.

Steal an old O top from your class leader and strap a SIAC to the bloodhounds nose.

Here's something you don't see every day, a radio orienteering event happened to coincide with BKO's regional event this weekend: https://www.flickr.com/photos/103669960 ... 247661821/

Running on the Chase back in the day 'Bill and Ben' had no problem finding even the most cunningly positioned controls. I suspect though they were on the trail of the control hanger - the likes of Birch and Palmer in particular seemed easy to track perhaps due to infrequent kit washing!
To oblivion and beyond....
