Just seen a section on Beat the Street on Breakfast TV.... much as I hate urban orienteering as not my scene, it does seem a good way to introduce orienteering (urban type not proper type ) .
Any involvement from BOF or others officially????

Re: BEAT THE STREET
I think there was a mention of it at the Club & Association conference in 2016 or 17 - but at the time it was only active in Northern Ireland. NIOA and/or clubs were actively involved.

Re: BEAT THE STREET
Beat the Street was in Nottingham in the spring/summers of 2016 and 2017. Many members of NOC used it as an incentive to get out and do some/more 'training' on foot or bike (both were 'allowed' in the rules of the game). The club team (at least 25 counters) won prizes of cash (2016 - which we put towards the cost of a fantastic urban map of The Meadows by Dave Schorah - which we're using again next Sunday) and Decathlon vouchers (2017 - which we used to buy insulated flasks as tokens of appreciation to all the members who helped at our events in 2017.)
There were some frustrations, of course, with some vandalism of the beat boxes and cheating by some locals trying to amass huge points for their children's school teams (the lure of the prizes) but on the whole those of us who took part enjoyed it.
It's been in lots of other towns and cities over the past few years.
