Re: The British Sprint O champs map complaint thread
Well, on a positive note, it's a lot easier to understand the mapping notes when you have the Google Street View pictures to look at.
... and at least it'll be more "challenging" than the JK Sprint at Stafford MOD.

Actually looking at it, it doesn't look like it'll be too tricky (assuming you've read the final details, this post etc etc) but if they are not putting controls on anywhere that the level might be difficult to discern that rules out quite a lot of places.

Re: The British Sprint O champs map complaint thread
That is without a doubt the craziest map extract I have ever seen.
(But as spookster says, it’ll at least be harder than the JK!)
One question - is there a third (ground) level in this area too or only “service” and “upper”? In which case why not just call the service level “ground”?

Re: The British Sprint O champs map complaint thread
The lowest level, service area could be shown as ground level, except the area is on a slope, so split-level, and the upper level is the ground level on one side.
In a previous event, all the lower level and access roads were out of bounds simplifying it.
May not be conventional, but the same/fair for everyone, and fun even if confusing... Maybe only the more competitive (elite?) are seriously bothered and take it seriously?
No one should criticise till they have actually run on it tho!

Just as important is to take on board the notes about the doors at the west end of The Parade - they might well cause confusion as you may think your entering a building but they just divide the undercroft under Wessex House. They say they will be clearly marked but they are not marked on the map extract.

Take your general point and the title of this thread was very definitely tongue in cheek having seen the final details posted on facebook.
BUT....
You must have your tongue in your own cheek suggesting only the elites take sprint seriously?
And actually it isn't really the same for everyone, definite advantage here if you've run before and also a proportion of the runners will not have read/understood the significance of, the final details so will also be at a disadvantage.
I agree with the posters who said better this than the JK borefest, but whether its actually fair - lets wait and see.

A competitor has an advantage having run previously on any area or having knowledge of an area.
If competitors fail to read or understand final details then surely that's their fault?

It is a bit cheeky that it seems that they took the old map off routegadget.

If so, that in itself may be grounds for a complaint under the "fairness" rule, as it clearly increases the advantage for anyone who ran there previously (and Nope readers )

that's because you're sitting still, looking at a blown-up version of the map which isn't also covered in purple course markings

The old map looks plenty hard enough without the extra level - but might as well go for it

Obviously the organisers don't regard it as a serious competition or they wouldn't be using mixed punching.
