JWOC 2018 in flat Southern Hungary starts this morning, featuring a very interesting schedule with the Long race as the opener. All 12 GB juniors are in action today which is great to see, on what will likely be one of the longest (and quickest) JWOC races in terms of distance ever held. Most notably Fiona and Grace will be trying to improve on their impressive top 20s from last year.
The website seems to be battling a certain resource limit but is here should it get back online (you may have to mash the refresh button a little). Several of the later GB starters have GPS so don't miss that rare live-stream orienteering opportunity!
The terrain this year has been the talking point across the orienteering world, with podiums appearing to be thrown wide open in terms of which nation will prevail. Check this out for one of the middle trainings. Unique and fast terrain tends to benefit the GB runners so it should be an exciting watch, with strong members across the whole team as both newbies and returners. Best of luck to all!

Anyone else following today’s JWOC Sprint. Matt Fellbaum currently holding onto Gold medal position 1 second ahead of yesterday’s Long course winner...

I'm managing to keep an eye on it when I'm not distracted by work. Every time it looks like somebody is going to beat him they drop by the wayside somehow. von Krusenstierna would have been well ahead I think and then missed a control out.
Still plenty of runners to come.

There are a lot of runners to come, but they are not seeded to the same extent as e.g. woc sprint, so this is pretty exciting for the team. What a great performance!

Plenty of mp on the Men’s course, including 3 who would all have beat Matt. Whatever happens with later runners it’s a great run from Matt and truly awesome after yesterday’s 15km, where he was standout Brit in the Men’s.

looks like a nightmare area for vague out-of-bounds. Is it taped?

An incredible silver medal for Matt Felly! In first place right up until the second last starter. How people can't love orienteering with drama like that I don't know...

It can't have been easy sitting and waiting for nearly two hours only to be knocked off the top of the leader board right at the end. Still a fantastic result. Brilliant. Well done Matt.
