Peter just slipping out of the leading pack into 3rd first team. Ralph has 30s on a pack of three.

Good runs from the boys. Ralph was always going to be up against it with some quality opposition , nobody at the front end seemed to be making big errors , Swiss maybe lost their chance with a 20s blip at the arena crossing. The long leg was very interesting, the first leg runners taking a very different route to later ones , was it groupthink ?

In addition to most of the races, the Swiss also win the prize for best organisation and particularly best mobile website! It will take some beating.

Glad I don't have to run there. Hector was going well but I think has made a huge mistake. and caught up by Ali. Cannot seem to get live splits yet.

Re: European Orienteering Championships
Hector one of the few runners to go straight on the long leg, he might pay an additional price later with the effects on his legs, but only a minute down after an hour at the moment.

Re: European Orienteering Championships
Think it was the poor GPS tracking that gave the impression of a big mistake.

Re: European Orienteering Championships
The northern route on 13 was over 2mins quicker for some. Hadorn went south and lost some time but not as much as Hector going straight. On 25 Hector is also taking the straightest route on small paths on the steep hillside, the mountain goat route, that might be best for him!

Nice one Hector, he's pulled back some time on the rest, and is back ahead of the current leader Hadorn, and just 5s off the lead with only 15mins left.

Oh no, Hector has lost around 3 mins on 29 a diagonal downhill leg.

I thought the planning was very good today, splitting the best runners into three route choices on two legs, with time being dropped when not executed properly.

The straight option didn't work so well in many cases. Some big loops outside the normal corridor I would have thought about.
