It's going to be close for 6th place. The last loop caused significant problems for the current leader Tove.

Any news on what happened to Julia Gross? She would have won if she had not MPd. Did she actually miss a control/go to a wrong control or is it a case of the punch failing to register?

Live news suggested she'd missed 10. It isn't far off the route from 9-11, but had she just ran down the path forgetting about it then I'd have expected her to gain more than 10s on Cat, not lose 10s to her so maybe it didn't register or something like that.
Julia must have been gutted though, last starter coming along the run-in being hailed as the Champion and then finding she'd mispunched.
Congrats for Cat's 5th place podium/diploma finish.

Prophetic words . Home from home, according to Cat's quote after the race. "I felt like I was running in Mulgrave Woods." which I believe is within running distance of her home near Whitby.

According to her Facebook:
"What a great and challenging course, what a crowd in the finish and what a feeling, to celebrate together with the flying swiss girls – at least for three minutes. Than they found out, that control number 10 was missing on my SI-Card. Nothing to discuss about this, I just wasn’t there. From the 9th control I ran directly to the passage and the 11th control, without even thinking about number 10. Well, of course nothing was as expected in the forest but sometimes you just don’t listen to the warning bells ringing.
Anyway, I saw what’s possible (and that was far more than I expected), so it’s all about recovering now and coming back on Saturday!
Congrats to those who succeeded and fast recovery to those who had a tough day out in the merciless terrain."
GL to team GBR today; the Swiss are on fire; the SWE, NOR and DEN teams possibly under-performing so far - but the GBR team is very strong and this could be their day!

Don't see anyone catching the Swiss team today... But in the chase for 2nd, an awesome start from Charlotte!

Yes, and Pete going well too.
The Swedes are trying to get across to the Swiss, half the gap closed by the end of leg 2.
