If you want to score UKOL points make sure you enter the right course for your age class. The course/class table wasn't on the EUOC website when entries opened, though it is there now.
(E.g. Currently several M50s who I thought would run UKOL are running a longer course).

It is hoped that most entries are now in as map orders have to be done very soon, but pre-entry will be held open for another week to cut the number of entries which have to dealt with at the event.
You can also edit your details, including course and SI card number.

Cracking start to the Big Weekend last night, with the usual campus Sprint and a fantastic new Indoor O event over 8 floors in one of the university buildings. 3-D mind boggling navigation! Thanks EUOC for a great evening.

Re: Big Weekend 10th Anniversary
EUOC would like to thank everyone fortheir understanding regarding today's voiding of the event due to the dangerously icy conditions. It's always a risk having an urban race at this time of year, and we've somehow managed to get away with it up until now.
The decision was made jointly between the controller, planner, organiser, and myself. Our primary concern was always the safety of our competitors. However we also had to consider the time and money people had invested to come to our event.
The conditions were undoubtedly dangerous with unpredictable black ice. Not only is this an obvious slip hazard, but often the roads became the "safest" place to run, which is not an ideal situation.
We decided that the best compromise was to allow everyone to participate in their course, at their own risk, but to remove the competitive element.
Thanks,
MN
P.S. Sunday's event on Holyrood Park will go ahead as planned, but keep an eye out for that ice!

Re: Big Weekend 10th Anniversary
A totally sensible and correct decision ... and a very enjoyable course 4, with some cracking legs and a generous tour of the interesting bits. The same goes for the night sprint, too.
All quality and to be expected ... but surprise treat of the weekend so far ... the great fun indoor-pick-the-right-stairs-O.
Thanks to all, and fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Voiding as a competive race I’m sure was the right decision. However did not detract from a great race round the city on excellently planned courses. BTW wearing dobs was perfect for running on ice and gave good grip all round. Thanks to all at EUOC and supporters.

Re: Big Weekend 10th Anniversary
It was the right decision to void the race. I did my course anyway, and tried to take the routes I would have done if racing in better conditions. At times this meant a ludicrous tiny-steps shuffle across some unpleasantly slippy surfaces. A shame for the race officials and competitors, but at least we got a run of sorts.
The indoor race on Friday night was brilliant. At the Finish I just laughed out loud, it was so much fun.

Re: Big Weekend 10th Anniversary
Great indoor event, and well done getting permission - often the main issue. Complex enough with 8 floors and just corridors, without needing to use any rooms. Not as tricky as the classic Stockholm Indoor Cup (everyone should try that!) but doesn't always need to be. Awkward having to open some doors (am used to just having accessible doors all left open ) but interesting use of the roof! a shame about the unavoidable slippery conditions.
Cant wait for another one somewhere.
Made the weekend worthwhile along with my first FWTN around the Kings Buuldings.

Re: Big Weekend 10th Anniversary
Enjoyed the urban race - right decision to void. Some really nice planning on Edinburgh - tricky legs.
Disappointed to miss the indoor event, but the traffic Q from Glasgow airport on the M8 was 17 miles - longest ever in my experience so looking at a 3 hour journey and no guarantee of getting home so turned back.
Only comment re the urban was it felt quite long - appreciate Course 2 just within guidelines for straight line (5-8 k) but I think 13k was the average distance ran and that was missing out one inaccessible control and with some decent climb too! Too far for a mvet course IMO.

Re: Big Weekend 10th Anniversary
While I cannot comment on the cancellation, reading this thread I was rather concerned that mharky had turned into “the reasonable and serious one”.
I was relieved to see from the parallel thread regarding the BOF website that the transition does not yet seem to be fully complete
