And ofcourse, if sand dunes at night is your thing, this year's British Nights at Merthyr Mawr is not to be missed.

Was that back in about 1973-4 with a black/white photocopy on thin paper at 1:20000? My memory of an event (my first on sand dues) about then was having to retire - so my recollection of the quality of the map may be rather biased.

I recall the excellent mid 70s map by Tak Sugiyama -somewhat ahead of its time in quality. Looking forwards to the BNC - Merthyr Mawr at night should be a classic.
To oblivion and beyond....

I'd love to go back for another wonderful 3 days on Inishbofin:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inishbofin,_County_Galway
The whole island (rocky limestone terrain) was used over the 3 days (2008). Great orienteering and great parties.
