Anyone thinking of going to WMOC 2018 in Denmark this July (7th to 13th) and who hasn't already entered might want to know that the "early bird" entry period ends in a week's time at the end of Friday 12th January.
The information about this seems confused at present however. Bulletin 1 gives the first deadline as December 28th - this has obviously been extended and is now incorrect.
Also, last month's newsletter has the date as 6th January and not the 12th, so it may be wise to enter within the next 24 hours or so, just in case ... I'm trying to clarify the position at the moment and will report back when it's clearer!
Nearly 2400 entries so far (at the time of writing) so it looks as if it'll be a big one ...

Re: WMOC 2018
I have just got holiday approval to be able to enter, and am starting to sort out accommodation and travel to event options.
What have those already entered concluded ?
I will be flying alone.

Re: WMOC 2018
We're just making a long weekend of it and going for the sprint - managed to get a decent air bnb. Sprints look doable on public transport from the centre.
FLight prices quite variable - only Edinburgh is direct flights from Scotland. Easyjet, Norwegian air and SAS the options.

Orienteering - its no walk in the park

My entry got stuck in Eventor (tried to cancel it to correct a mistake and it was then impossible to do anything) so was in touch with WMOC admin.
Eva Sebok from the WMOC2018 team wrote yesterday "There was a quite serious server crash at IOF Eventor, so they are not completely up to speed yet. At the same time the good news is that due to this server crash we extended the first entry deadline until 12 January".
(She cancelled my first entry and I was able to successfully enter our party today)

Re: WMOC 2018
It seems a bit mean that the sprint only or forest only prices are barely any lower than doing all the events. I was half tempted by the sprint only option (as it’s still term time) but 100 Euros for 2 sprints, when it’s 130 Euros for all 5 races, seems a rip-off.

Well, for one thing, the IOF sanction fee is levied per entrant, whether or not they compete in one, two or three Championships.
