Tessa and Kris.
You can try to make these races exciting, but if the best runners insist on winning....

except sadly from what I hear, SIAC verses manual punching (battery failure) may have influenced one result.graeme wrote:Tessa and Kris.

God I hate when people snipe from the sidelines...
I'd like to say thanks for a good race today - not easy given the very small and not-that-technical area, but the courses were good, the arena was exciting and everything worked well. Thanks everyone.

Re: JK 2017
Having SIAC at the event today didn't work for me. If it had been an all manual punching competition I guess there would have been more than a single final control box (200). As it was I ended up in a queue at the start of the run-in and as a consequence lost a place in the results...

Live results up for Day 2.
http://www.sportident.co.uk/results/201 ... .html#m50l
Any predictions for the top three in the elite? So many men in good form, UK based verses Scandi, sprint verses forest on southern terrain and with the women there is the added interest of the Kiwis.
For the men: Kris, Ralph, GG, but maybe Jonny or Alan or...
For the women: Cat, Tessa, not sure about form for third.

I assumed the elite runner used their own SIAC, unless you know otherwise. Not sure who was being sniped as you put it?

I'm aware of one elite whose SIAC failed (in contactless mode - still worked in dibbing mode), one that was borrowed from their club. No idea if this is the same one referred to above.

Re: JK 2017
Middle today was nice. Not that hard but enough to he me to loose a couple of 30 seconds. Possibly a bit more physical than expected but no complaints from me there.
There is some issue with the siac battery life my 16 month old SI Card never used touch free till today was dead when I went to test it. I had a hurried trip to si and got a hire for the rest of the event. I will apparently be sent a replacement for mine next week hopefully it's been improved since mine was bought.

It's a pity that there's nothing to follow apart from the bare results. Of course I don't normally mind because I'm there a the event. That's the rub: there's not much point doing live splits or tracking because almost everyone who'd be interested is actually taking part.

I don't agree. Fewer than 10% of our club members are at the event, and I'd imagine there are quite a few others like me who are really keen to hear how people have been getting on. The results service had been superb - something that people seem to take for granted these days.

The live results are greatly appreciated and thanks to those who set it up. They are the next best thing for some of us, getting time with the family and dipping in and out when the opportunity arises.

Yes I agree - only one family member competing the rest of us enjoying a Peak District Easter - but it's been nice to see how everyone is getting on.

The live results are not very live today.
I'm hearing through the grapevine that MCD pipped Tess by 5s for the win today but Tessa won overall by 13 seconds.
Very impressive for Megan to win on her debut long race as a senior.
On the men's side GG overturned the deficit from the middle to win today and overall, Ralph 2nd and Kris 3rd.
