Re: BUCS 2017
1997 BUSA Jamie won the individual and somehow Rob, Graham, and me got home from the nightclub in time to win the relay for Loughborough, have Loughborough won it again since then?

In winning times somewhat quicker than expected.

Re: BUCS 2017
Wharncliffe tough but good today, not the brambleshambles expected!
170-odd fancy-dress clad students piled into a West Street all you can eat before descending on the student's union bar. Big beer race in the beergarden. Adjudicated by willyG and Mharky for full balance - not that adjudication was needed as an M60 crustacean anchored a solid ShUOC win, placings unknown as too busy celebrating 3 on the trot with lobster dancing.
A large group should be making their way to Pop Tarts as I speak, where serious shapes will be thrown until 3.30. ShUOC bus leaves at 7am.
I think still being drunk for the relays will be preferable to just being really tired!

At least I got one prediction right.
Respect to everyone who so comprehensively destroyed my expected winning times.
Thanks ba ba (and the others) for the control collecting.
I haven't managed to make it to Hugset for the start of the relay and I was in bed soon after 9pm. Heaven knows how the students can catch a bus at 7am after clubbing until 3:30am? I guess we were all young once....

Re: BUCS 2017
I think most were home (via broomhill friary) by 2.
Starts delayed by only 10mins or so today.
Mens:
1 EUOC 1 Leitch, Masson, Chepelin
2 SHUOC men of steel Williams, Woodley, Elkington
3 Herriot Watt 1, Rigg, Moran, Crickmore
Women's
1 EUOC 1 Harding, Brice (?), Strain
2 ShUOC women of Steel, Hemmingway, Rigby, Moran
3 EUOC 2 Rickets, Novotna, Walsh (???)
EUOC win overall having edged SHUOC by a point in the men's clear win in the women's.
All cleared up and gone by 13.00. Many thanks to Spookster for SI all weekend, and Homer and ttdp for for the individual courses, Willy Gardner and Steve Whitehead for the relay and SYO and Eddie Nicholas for general support and enablement.
And of course Rhona McMillan for organising the whole shebang
2018 is in Oxford (and my 8th and final BUCS)

Re: BUCS 2017
Well done SHUOC and SPOOK for a seriously strenuous weekend. This 'professor' (? there could be no other explanation according to one undergraduate!) was reminded how hard they bring 'em up in Yorkshire. Great courses on both days (albeit only the largest features seemed to be used as Day 1 controls) and efficient provision of the essentials for a low-maintenance, high-standard event. Would really like to visit Hugset again with fresh legs (and after using at least 500 litres of weedkiller on the brambles, which would be easy to find as the map so accurately depicted them).

Re: BUCS 2017
I'd like to thank everyone involved in both days and especially Martin Ward, Steve Whitehead, Roger Lewis, Peter Gorvett (and numerous others from SYO), Nic, Rhona, Ed and my Dad for all of their help for the relays. There were a few issues that seemed to become apparent during the race, and I hope everyone enjoyed them in spite of these - apologies to anyone who got left with a sticker on their map that wouldn't rip off properly!
Congratulations to the winners, very well deserved victories, though I would have liked to see some black and gold on the top of the podium...
