Re: The British
A week long visit! - what on earth for? Unless the courses are 100km long then a couple of days is enough to get a feel for the area, visit control sites and check any map issues.

Re: The British
I did get a reply last week - but somehow it didn't go to the address I sent it to but an old one! It is as suggested short courses are championship courses (just not championship classes I guess)
If this is just a way of subsidising the event I actually think offering short courses at the full price may be counter productive. It might be more profitable to offer colour coded up to green at the lower fee to encourage more people to attend, improve the atmosphere all round making it a more attractive event to attend year on year and also reap more income the next day from the extra people who did the colour coded and stayed on for the Relays.
What do you think?

Re: The British
I am shocked at the lack of publicity for the entries closing dates. I looked and failed to find any information in December and therefore neve expected the first cut off to be so soon.
I have therefore not ensured that ourclub members are awareasour newslettersgo out weekly too late.
I have looked at the entries as of now which suggest to me that many people are unaware. If not maybe BOF are pricing BOC into a sideshow. High Dam is easy to get to and a fabulous springtime area - get it right and the entry should be massive.

Eddie,
It's correct the entry dates were not on the BOC 2017 site in early/mid December. They were posted in late December, not sure of the exact date.
BOF have put a news piece out today.
What sort of publicity were you thinking could have been done, most people would look at the website which has the required details.
Event pricing for BOC has not had input from BOF, just to be clear.

Re: The British
Hmm, BOF page links to Fabian4, links to "event website" - 1 page with absolutely minimal details... How about some info guys? The event is only 3 months away and people are trying to make plans for travel, accommodation etc. Something, anything would be better than nothing!

Re: The British
There is a link from that page to the BOC site:
http://www.theboc.org.uk/
Which does give a bit more information - and should be enough to make transport and accommodation arrangements.

Thanks pete - some more info there.
Only concern is how to reach that page (except via your link) as the BOF page just reaches a single page... perhaps some updating of links required?

The BOF website has a BOC page (https://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/boc), and that has a link to the event website (http://www.theboc.org.uk/).
The BOF news item, about the entry deadline, has links both to the BOC page and directly to the Fabian4 entries page.

Yes but what is not right I believe is the link in the fixtures database. For quite a lot of people this is the natural link to go to. It's the link I use for any other event and it is automatically used by other web sites providing fixtures like Attackpoint.

There isn't a link in the Fixtures database (so it can't be wrong ). In fact there aren't many details at all, but that will need to be corrected by LOC/NWOA people with access to the event registration system.

What hassle?
I wouldn't miss the premier event of the year on one of the very best areas in the country for anything. I even forwent the opportunity to go to the World Masters in NZ.
