If you thought the number of events and activities clubs put on seems to be going down, the statistics at the end of the latest board minutes back this up.
CLUB EVENTS
2014: 1780
2015: 1667
2016: 1391
CLUB ACTIVITIES (club nights, coaching etc)
2014: 3393
2015: 2766
2016: 2085
XPLORER sessions
2014: 560
2015: 634
2016: 822
Perhaps not all events and activities were registered when these minutes were made? Any comments?

Re: Wot no events?
I don't think those stats are right for events. Here's another set:
From the BO fixtures lists of registered events, for the whole country - Level A, B, C and D:
2014 = 91 pages (20 events per page, so about 1820)
2015 = 85 pages (about 1700)
2016 = 89 pages (about 1780)
(Those figures include events registered but then cancelled).
In other words, fairly level across the last three years. I suspect the figures for 2016 in the board minutes aren't the full year.

Re: Wot no events?
The stat I would like to see is the number of new members generated from events/activities/Xplorer

Re: Wot no events?
The stat that got me was:
non-club member participation runs: 71, 542
Xplorer runs 71, 542
It seems that all the non-club member activity runs that we record are being logged as Xplorer runs. Or is that a typo on the table?

I couldn't understand why that figure (non club member participation) had dropped so dramatically in one year -from 157k to 71k

I certainly hope not because this club for one gets a decent number of non club member runs that are NOT Xplorer. Portraying it as it is could suggest that clubs get no non members along which we know is wrong.
It's more than a typo, it's a lack of sanity checking of figures before finalising an important report.

We hold plenty of club sessions that don't get registered - no need in Scotland if its just a run on a map.

Actually, there is a need. I've been putting together the SOA's figures for last year and participation at activities is down significantly. However, looking at the list of activities I notice a lot missing that have been going on (and some missing figures).
As we have participation targets in the SOA on top of our principle membership target it would help us secure our Sportscotland funding if all activities are registered and attendance logged.
What are pictorial descriptions?

Make it easier to register events - even allow just a note of participants afterwards, and you might get more take up.

I don't control the BO event registration system but if you can provide me with dates and number of participants I can add them to our own data
