Wide trail shoes

Our daughter has very wide feet with a high instep and we're struggling to find her trainers with a grippy outsole that fit. New Balance 7.5 4E fits her, but their offroad models only seem to go up to 2E and are too narrow. Saucony fits around the forefoot but not at the instep.
She has had success with Hi-Tec in the past but not anymore
And yes, we're already looking at men's sizes. Ideally not specialist O shoes as she will use them for a range of activities.

And it would also help if they didn't cost a fortune...

Any suggestions?

I've got some very cumfy Salomon XT Hornet 1 .I have small wide feet with a high instep and I use them for all sorts of activities. They have lasted very well (and you don't have to tie up the shoe laces but make sure you tuck in the toggles if you run in them. I once got them tangled and went flying )

Have a look at the Adidas XT range. I used to use the XT4 for orienteering and loved them, only slippy on wet rock. I am on my 3rd pair of them for trail running and get hundreds of kms out of a pair. I love them, light but a really wide toe box.
I've not tried the latest XT Boost but I've heard great things about them!

Thanks for the suggestions. The local running shop came up with men's Inov-8 Roclite 295 and they seem to be a good fit (though they failed the price criterium - daughter has been instructed to stop growing)

I use Asics gel - Fujitrabuco 4 and have wide feet and high instep.
I have the blue and pink ones £49,99 at sportshoes.com at the moment. Also for wide feet \I was advised to not cross over the first lace holes. It really does make a difference.

I have fairly wide feet with a high instep and find Iov8 shoes very comfortable. Have a look at www.sportsshoes.com

I have very wide feet with narrow heel (although my instep isn't high) and I find Salomon Speedcross to be a good fit.

For o-shoes I go with the VJ Supra - they have great grip.

I found inov 8 fylyroc 310s to be good. I also have a broad forefoot and narrow heel. They are expensive for a child with growing feet though, not sure if they are still made

The key to kids with growing feet is to make sure you are generous when they are the same sized feet as you - that's why I have quite a few pairs of Speedcross, a pair of football boots, some rugby boots and some running spikes now.

I think the replies illustrates that foot shapes are more complex than just 'wide' or 'narrow'. I get on well with Salomon, and I have narrow ankles, a slender midfoot, and a wider forefoot. They key point for our daughter doesn't seem to be the forefoot, but the mid section.
We bought the Inov8s Roclites 295- it was time to support the local shop where she could try things on and get useful advice, after several rounds of mail ordering bargains and sending them back... We will try the lacing tip.

And yes, the fact that she now is in my size played a role Her foot growth seemed to have slowed down now so hopefully she will get some proper use out of them first.
I tried them on and they fit me (too) comfortably; they are very roomy and I wouldn't want to do any contouring in them. I didn't realise that Inov8 do different lasts in different models - the ones I have tried on have always been narrower so I wouldn't have considered them for her.
