Re: Chester Sprint Weekend
Hope we get to run along the city walls again. Last time one bit was out of bounds which added to the route choice challenge.

Since the last race back in 2011 Canol the walls have been closed in at least 3 places due to collapse in one instance, repair in a second and, most recently, repair along with a complete refurbishment of the famous Eastgate clock. The latter is just being completed so there will be plenty of opportunity for running along them.
I haven't seen the courses so don't know what the planners have in store but I expect the walls will feature somewhere. I posted a link on the event blog to a really good website that has a very detailed virtual tour of the walls along with plenty of history.
Hope you can make the event.

Chester Sprint Weekend - entries
A reminder to all that there is no entry on the day for the Sunday 11 October races in Chester city centre and Chester North (this is a requirement of one of our permissions and will be strictly applied) and that entries close at midnight on this coming Friday, 25 September.
There will be limited eod on the main classes at Eastham on Saturday 10 October.
We are also providing an eod white course on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday morning (in Grosvenor Park only).

Is this 4 separate 12-15 minute races?

Graeme, format as follows:
Saturday afternoon: one 12-15 min forest sprint, UKOL
Saturday evening: night sprint "0ne person relay" format, winning time 15 mins-ish (level D, bit of fun)
Sunday: 2 x 12-15 min winning time races, time of both added together for overall result, ranking points, UKOL, UK Urban League & NW sprint champs.
Plus overall weekend competition by age category ie MO, M Vet, M SVet etc for those who do all the 4 races - total time.

Thanks.
Perhaps you might consider putting that on the website?

Re: Chester Sprint Weekend
Website is being very cagy about where we are going on Sunday afternoon. 6 km drive from City Centre, but 2km walk from Bache station, which Google says is 1.2 miles from City Centre. Must be a very roundabout drive!

Re: Chester Sprint Weekend
I note that there is no eod on the sunday. This might be because of number limits, or like the RAF base in Yorkshire earlier where entrants and accompanying people had to be checked in advance, may be the second venue is a mod base? Are there any in the area?

Re: Chester Sprint Weekend - Sunday afternoon race venue
Good guess Canol - far better than my fellow DEEsiders who have been telling me that they were looking forward to running in Chester Zoo.
The Sunday race is at The Dale Barracks, base of the 2 Mercian Regiment.
I have just emailed all Fabian4 entry contacts with information about security and access requirements on the day with a request to pass it on to every one that they have entered.
It is quite detailed so I won't go into it here but we have a good process for managing everything as part of the call up and start procedure. If anyone has any queries, my contact details are on the email.

Correct nooomember. Absolutely no headcams - will be a note to this effect in the event details.
Taking photos of runners at the finish itself which is outside the secure area will be ok but it would not be a good idea to point a camera in the direction of the gatehouse barrier to the secure area entrance where the armed guards are located.
