Re: WOC team selection banter
I'd take Jess for both the Middle and the Long vacancies then, with Charlotte as reserve.
Based on results here and at the World Cup, the obvious choice for the men's forest places looks like GG, Ali and Hector for all three disciplines, but I think they could take Ralph or Doug for one of the Middle and/or Relay spots.

Considering the number of both men and women (including Tove) losing time on a leg with the same control (#171) at the start, is something slightly amiss on that patch of map going over the small ridge?

Lidar base map so contour shapes good, and mapper also made his only error when pre-running the course at this control - drifted left, just like others did by the sound of it.

@cbg Nothing wrong with the map. It's just that the legs were planned so the good running lines (spurs/reentrants) dragged runners offline to the left. Like Scotia says, it wasn't a coincidence that I was there to see it live . Thierry ran precisely the right distance, stopped, and took about 3 seconds to relocate.

Full long distance results now online at http://obasen.orientering.se/winsplits/ ... seId=37551
Sprint test race is early tomorrow (quarantine closes at 8am).
This is on a new map/area at Elgin, which is handily being released from embargo as a WOC reserve area at midnight tonight

JonX just tweeted. Surely Ruth securing a place in the team. What will be very interesting is who doubles up and hence how many more get selected. Alice/Helen in with a shout if Ruth/Charlotte/Cat aren't racing both. Similar in the men with Dave/Ralph/Chris/Peter

Some problems with the SIair methinks. Some 1 sec splits for the men (or 53 for Murray), and Alice has a fishy looking "twice as fast as anyone else" on 13?

I thought the splits looked strange. Is the map posted online anywhere yet?

Not the SI Air this time! That worked very well on all three days. We were using the WOC sprint trestles which are set up to have an SI box at each end of the trestle (ie two boxes for each control code). The two sets of units had not been time-synched with each other recently enough, so there are odd-looking splits where people registered with a box from one set at a control but the box from the other set at the next. Sorry!
But I'm afraid Murray's 53sec split is real, he missed the control out and had to go back for it....
Why did I do that...
