Wouldn't it be faster to have compulsory showers half way round the courses, rather than baths?

On a different topic, I see that NWJS are providing cake stalls
does this include the excellent bacon rolls they sometimes do at big events (like to know as helps with lunch planning)

A Brazilian W21E is coming to JK but has no accommodation as yet or means of transport to the events. Does anyone have, or know of anyone who has, a group camping barn, hostel or somewhere with space for an extra person. It would be very much appreciated. Please post here or e mail enquiries2015@thejk.org.uk
She can make her own way to the sprint.
Is anyone staying at YHA Hawkshead or does anyone know of anyone staying there who could offer lifts to the events for the competitor mentioned above please?
An AIRE member will be staying at YHA Hawkshead, but relying on his bike, so can't help with lift.

Re: JK2015
I see that start times have been published.
Does anyone know if there will be a programme issued?
If so, when will it be available?

Re: JK2015
I always allow myself a little smirk of moral superiority at the folk who fancy their chances enough to request 2 late starts - even on the short courses.
How on earth do the organisers manage to accommodate them all?
I know it's allowed but should it be?

Re: JK2015
Excellent, thanks O Lady.
A silent start? Never experienced one of those before. Hope I don't get in trouble for blethering!
One more question... it suggests that my courses 5, 6 and 7 will have very long control descriptions. Any thoughts on good solution for fitting them into description holder? I have a decent length description holder but not sure even it will cope.
How have I not encountered this problem in all my years orienteering?

Silent starts are ok although it is a bit surreal. The protocol I was told about when I experienced one as a helper was officials keep quiet and only respond if the a competitor asks questions. Think of it as a good chance to get into the zone before you start

re control descs, you have obviously managed to avoid various sprint/urban races. The longest I have experienced is at La 77 - French event with 77 controls and yes they are all in one long strip!
I have seen people employ several solutions:
fold the control desc, if poss so that the fold is at something like a crossing point, and take a few moments to switch it round,
if there are a lot of crossing points, do some origami in the start lane and fold off the top, bottom and do a few pleat folds on the crossing point bits,
fold so you can get as many as desc as possible in your holder and rely on the control desc on the map for the rest,
carry 2 control desc holders and tear the desc in half.
Others may have other remedies….

Re: JK2015
I really hope you manage to carry the silent starts off! I really like them when I've experienced them abroad, but I know some big British events have attempted this in the past only for it to be undermined by the start volunteers finding it too awkward to stand in silence without pointing out the control descriptions or the start kite...
Any news on the solution to the oversubscribed-elite-courses conundrum?

I am not involved in that Scott so not in a position to comment.
The event details state that start times for Day 2 are 10:00-14:00, except Course 1, probably 09:30-14:30 (to be confirmed) and Day 3 are 10:00-14:00, except Course 1, probably 09:00-14:00 (to be confirmed).

Very disappointed to see dogs are only allowed in car park at Bigland. Could have sworn I didn't read that when I checked before entering
