Different middle courses at JK 2013 too.
Sounds like a good solution Graeme.

I thought this too, but it doesn't seem to have made it through to the rules (Appendix A, 4.4.1; also Competition Rule G, 7.3). I was definitely at a committee meeting where this was discussed at length, but that may well have been JK2013 organising committee rather than a BOF rule-changing committee.

Re: JK2015
If that's the case, then it needs to go to a BOF rules meeting. The issue of start block is obviously exaggerated this year. However, the course length for juniors is a more concerning issue.

Re: JK2015
At the time there were arguments put forward by some parents/coaches that the JK Middle was a good opportunity for top 18/20 Elites to test themselves against the 21s, and that having a separate 18/20E Middle course would deprive them of that opportunity. I can't claim to know enough about athlete development to offer an informed opinion on that. In 2013 we had a separate 18/20E Middle but (in accordance with the rules) it was planned to be of equivalent length to the 21E course.
The 18s, 20s and 21s all run the same course at the British Middle Champs as well, where start times are less of an issue.

Well they should be planned to the guideline winning times. If this looks too short or too long to you that will be because the planner has assesed the terrain as being slower or faster than you are expeting.

There was consensus between the Junior Competitions Group and Elite Competitions Groups that there was a lot to be gained by combining 18/20/21E at both sprint and middle distance championships. I don't recall Coaching Committee/Competitions Committee/Rules Group/The Board raising any objections.
Views may have changed in recent years but there still might be an argument for splitting a combined 18/20/21 middle competition by ability rather than age given that the initial thinking was about providing the top junior elites with some decent competition at a major event - something they rarely got in the UK.

Course details are on the website. Days 2&3 on a dedicated page. Sprint and relays on the Days 1 & 4 pages respectively

Re: JK2015
Can anyone help please?
A Brazilian W21E is coming to JK but has no accommodation as yet or means of transport to the events. Does anyone have, or know of anyone who has, a group camping barn, hostel or somewhere with space for an extra person. It would be very much appreciated. Please post here or e mail enquiries2015@thejk.org.uk
She can make her own way to the sprint.

Is anyone staying at YHA Hawkshead or does anyone know of anyone staying there who could offer lifts to the events for the competitor mentioned above please?

Re: JK2015
From those course details it looks like there are already separate Middle courses planned for both M and W 18/20E, slightly shorter than the 21E equivalents.

With some decent disinfectant mats it shouldn't be a problem.
