Just seen this on the FISO website and thought it would be of interest. My translation below. I will post further info here as they are released.
Return of the Venice Orienteering Meeting, the 34th edition brings with it some important changes. Firstly and most importantly the timing. You will compete in darkness from 2100 with a maximum number of entries capped at 1200. There will be 3 stages in Venice, and this year Ca Savio and Burano (inference is the other 2 stages will move around). The events have to start around 2100 in the quiet period given the number of tourists present during the day (I believe this will be a precondition for permissions from the City Authorities).
Other not to be missed orienteering events in Italy include ROME Orienteering Meeting 2015 which is still on 1,2,3 May. Moreover, FISO (the Italian NGB) have requested we run ROME 2017, which has been agreed by the 2 organising clubs - the provisional date for 2017 will be for the first weekend of December.
Note for ROME 2015 we are switching the City Race to the Friday as there is a Mayday parade on the Sunday. See http://romeorimeeting.net/index.php?lang=en for details in English.
Any questions just ask.
Ciao a tutti

Re: VENICE 2015
The Hana Orienteering website (Czech O tour organisers who used to send lots of runners to MOV) has the dates as 6-8 November, which would be a week earlier than in recent years. But haven't seen any other confirmation of it yet.
It also says in the info that the entry fee will be 75 Euros for all 3 races.
I find that a real shame - 1200 people at night just won't be the same as 4000 during the day in terms of atmosphere. It will feel more like an organised tour than a proper city race. I guess I can see where they are coming from, but before the 2012 flood race there were 4000 people running every year for a long time without any issues, so I'm not sure why there's quite such a constraint.

75 euros includes all ferry transfers and the pasta party btw
I agree with you on the numbers but I think it is a compromise to get permission from the authorities. And when dealing with authorities in Italy there is little room for logic.....

Thanks Mike,
Annoyingly Rome clashes with the French SW Nationale this year. That's a shame (for me).
I would love to see the Risk Assessment for the Venice event at night!!!

Re: VENICE 2015
In the past countless schoolchildren took part in this event - can't see them venturing forth
in the dark and the entry fee will be too high for them.
In fact, I doubt if the 1200 entry limit will be reached

Hmm risk assessments.... having planned, organised and controlled a bit here in Italy I have to say that this is a little less rigourous than you would find in the UK
