Graeme.... that is c**p. You only make number 48 on the list of top 50.... most people will be bored before they get that far
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

Yes, five places below Oktoberfest does have a bit of a barrel-scraping feel to it.

Definitely an adventure sport going by these photos (it's the result of a hornet attack, apparently).

Yes, I see that my translation on Google says '30 competitors Czech Cup relay in orienteering, which attacked hornets. Four people were taken to hospitals, one woman's condition was serious.'
Had a few people stung by wasps from a (not spotted) nest near a control site once when I planned, but I guess hornet stings are somewhat worse?

One of our club members suffered a nasty attack by wasps in the Harvester at Sheffield about 3 years ago, having stood on a nest in the ground.

Re: Prizes for Publicity
Not for WOC 2015.... Sports editor of local press on Inverness has no knowledge of WOC and zero contact from organisers..... Bit of a joke really.

Maybe not a massive circulation (2000) and not on the web but front page news here! Don't believe everything you read in the papers by the way.

Re: Prizes for Publicity
Spotted this in a document I have just been reading about the layout of examination papers here at the University of Reading:
"Please note that the list of degree programmes intended (e.g. Part 2 Examination for BSc Orienteering) is NOT required."
Unfortunately the University does not actually offer this degree

Remarkable! ... Press reporting orienteering as if it was a real sport. Well done MAROC

Re: Prizes for Publicity
Excellent. Whoever wrote that did a great job. It's nice to see local press showing an interest in orienteering - we now need that to spread to the regional and national papers, especially the sports sections whose editors still appear to be oblivious. In Moray we had a more local slant on RTC but useful publicty nonetheless (and more thanks to Wendles for the photo!)
