Entries close soon for the two UK O League events in Pippingford Park on 22 & 23 February. One of them is a British Championship too.
I think Pippingford is the best orienteering area in south-east England. Come and see if you agree.

SE Middle Distance Champs in April are on Mardley Heath (near Knebworth) a small but intensely technical area of wooded ex-gravel pits. Definitely one to visit if you want to enter into the 'best area in the South East' debate

Yes agreed STC, I did some coaching for HH there a few year's back and sent people out on a brown only map - some very experienced orienteers were gone for an extremely long time!
A great little area for sprint, middle or even a sprint relay methinks and exceptionally well mapped.

But take care if the bluebells are out. Very very slippery. Wear the right shoes.

Mardley is a really good middle race area. It's a bit like having just the complicated part of Leith Hill. Not many people will have run there because it is quite small and has limited car parking so we normally just use it for Saturday Series events. Slowtochide thought he had discovered a new area until I showed him the existing map! You can see recent courses in RG2 (surprise, surprise). Further details are on the HH website.
Also don't miss the SEOA Sprint Champs the day before (Saturday 26th April) at Oaklands College, St Albans.

Mardley was a super little area, but you couldn't hold a long/classic event there.
I used to think Winterfold was pretty good, but high bilberry and brashings everywhere put me off it last weekend.
Anyway, the point of this post is to publicise a further opportunity to run at Pippingford, in an army championship on Wednesday 4th June. Civilian guests welcome. Worth taking the afternoon off work if you are in London or south of it? Information is/will be at www.baoc.info
