Would have been good to have seen Orienteering here, particularly as things like Luge and Shinty get a credit. Perhaps some lobbying of the BBC from Nopesporters?

Re: BBC Sport 'Get Inspired' promotion
Orientering is in the list of included events and NATO's Summer League on Wednesday was in the listing
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: BBC Sport 'Get Inspired' promotion
WCOC are active in this, and I think there is an interview with Radio Cumbria involved. The value of the exposure might only be to get the sport out there and the name talked about. Participation may not be immediate, but that is the thinking behind our school work as well. The kids try it and if they like it, and if parents are prepared to ferry them, and if their busy schedule allows an orienteering event window.... then we may get a new club member. All uphill and the gradient isn't getting any less..... but perhaps not 75% any more!!!!

Wadaya mean "things like ... Shinty"
Shinty is one of Scotland's national sport and one of the main sports in the areas to the S and W of where this week's Scottish 6 days are taking place. Check out the sports pitches at Bught Park in Inverness and the ones at Kingussie and Newtonmore.
For anyone who wants to see some shinty then tomorrow is the Sutherland Cup final in Inverarnie close to the Littlemill 6days training area. And on Sunday in Bught Park Inverness there is a 6-a-side tournament.

Re: BBC Sport 'Get Inspired' promotion
It's interesting -converse with the BBC over their "Things to Do" website suggested I should put more competitive events onto "Get Inspired" or "Sports Tasters" and the more family oriented less competitively focussed events onto "Countryfile" (actually I need to think about NATO's November Urban event at Killingworth - 1st plug- which doesn't fit Countryfile and I think will be after Get Inspired has finished -must check that).
I put our Family events at Prudhoe into Countryfile for that reason -and guess what they moved them to Get Inspired - oh well at least the message that this is a competitive sport not a wander with a compass and map is getting out there!
