How does it work, does the incoming runner pick up the next map? Is there gaffling?

Re: Jukola 2013 this weekend
Incoming runner picks up next map: ask Riina Kuuselo, who ran a great leg in last year's Venla then accidentally took the wrong map...

Re: Jukola 2013 this weekend
Ouch - what happened to the team whose map she took?
BTW looks like SJ and Charlotte of OK Ravinen are doing Jukola as well as Venla in OK Ravinen 3.
OK Ravinen 2 (with Nick) is DQ

Another win for Kalevan Rasti, by just over 2 mins. They were never outside the top 7 places at any intermediate control or handover - impressive, in a race with 1600 teams.
96th for Scotland is a great result!
(and they were 1 second ahead of KR towards the end of Murray's leg 1
)

Re: Jukola 2013 this weekend
Street very excited about 'driving the train' on leg 3 and almost ensuring he'd be in contention on the W21E courses of the future when he fell on a stick. All the mentions of Murray over the commentary kept me awake when trying to get some kip. Great to watch the entire Venla on the screens, lots of nerves out in the forest on last leg it looked! Great to see Cat popping up at the front of the pack at each TV control on after Tio and NORT
A rogue contact lens then a dead E-S**t brikke did for Brizzle (and assorted hangers on) - crossed the line in 308th, which was 3 places higher than the start number.

Strange - as the organisers checked each brikke before the start as part of runner check-in procedure. It must have died during the race..... or perhaps wasn't used correctly?
