I've got the opportunity to get what amounts to an advert on a local community radio station. I've also got a son who is doing a music tehnology degree and so is able to record sound well. To add to that I've got access to a recording studio at the school we use for clubnights tomorrow night.
I've also lined up two of the club juniors and given them the brief of "just have a chat about why you like orienteering and we'll capture the good bits"
Now that will last about a minute despite them both being chatterboxes so I'd to ask the assembled wisdom of nopers for some ideas of what points we should try to get across....
Over to you

What are the demographics of the audience? It might influence your plan. Are you targetting a particular group?
I always think it's nice to hear people being natural and passionate about what they enjoy, so maybe this isn't the place to find out what they should say. You might not want it sounding scripted, so maybe a few questions and give them a chance to practice their answers?
Probably a good idea to get them to plug one thing a few times though so that people interested have somewhere to go after the advert... eg the club night location/time or your website address?
Must be some experience knocking around in Scotland on this sort of thing with S6D promotion etc?

Have a listen to the "Nopecasts" on the front page to hear some of the questions that Pyrat and Harry would ask folk to talk about.
(I'm on one of them talking about the impact of Trump's new golf course on one of Gramp's best areas...)

Yikes - I think KP has been taken over by a BOF drone!
Please make sure you get across the competitive aspects - the WOC coming to Scotland (OK the UK) in 2015) etc.
If you advertise it as a sport fat, unfit people can do noone will want to do it - even the unfit fatties!

Re: Ideas Needed please
Perhaps not for the "fat, unfit people" but certainly for those who enjoy walking and fancy an extra challenge (navigational). I don't class myself as unfit particularly and I'm certainly not fat(!) but I rarely run round a course...I prefer to walk it and enjoy the area I'm going through
Walking is quite popular nowadays I think so could appeal to those people.
Though the competitive element is important for those who are competitive so should be more prominent.
Also the fact that it's not the running round school fields idea that most people have from school. The fact you get to access lots of different areas

Re: Ideas Needed please
I didn't say "walking allowed", I said "all levels..." not "no fitness".
I am not comfortable with promoting O as a walking non-competitive sport but I am sure there must be more potential converts from the great under-fit / under-exercised than from those already hooked on another sport. We should be willing to accept all newcomers, not just the superfit.

"Sport for All"? I don't think so.
I think it's a sport for those that like maps - fit or unfit. For those that don't they'll never like it, and for those that do (like me) finding the sport motivated me to get fit.
