Kate Charles seems to be doing an excellent job of accommodating people's bus requests. At the end of the day, these volunteers are trying their utmost with a very difficult organisational headache. (I still think the hurdles to be overcome were not worth the area, which could have been used for a less prestigious event.BTW I'm not saying it's not a good area!)
Interesting to note that Rocky's question about the elite gaps and Mrs H's about event managers have not been answered.I would have thought that at BOF's premier event, the event managers would be the overall co-ordinators

A bit random having a mix of 3 and 6 minute start intervals on Elite? What's the thinking there?

The elite course start lists were created using the process in Rules Appendix M. That specifies a 3 minute interval, runners in ranked order groups within which their start order is randomised, and gaps left between each group and within each group.

With an elite entry of 70 or 80 it would be mostly 3 minute intervals and occasionally 6. But with this year's lower entry level, it appears to be a mix of 3 and 6.

I don't know how much input Dave and Helen have had into BOC 2012, but from experience I know what help we got at BOC 2011. It's good advice and lessons learnt from previous events, and suggestions for how best-practice can be used in your event. Dave obviously also has specialist expertise on the mapping issues. Helen also focusses on particular areas, for example the prize-giving process and trophies. Dave was in the arena helping us set up on the day before last year's race, but mostly their role isn't "on the day" stuff, which clearly is the responsibility of the day organiser.

I too had problems getting the updated webpage using Firefox and I've had 20 years experience working in IT (yes, that probably makes me old too...). I refreshed the page several times yesterday afternoon but it didn't update, so I used the home button, which did work. I re-accessed the page via favourites again this morning and the old version was still there, but the refresh button did work this time. Bizarre.

I'm getting tired of viewing old pages and finding it takes several goes these days to refresh, so I'm going to set my cache to 0mb in firefox in the hope that this fixes it. I automatically refresh a web page when I visit it anyway.

Sounds like a great idea, but I doubt I'll be able to take advantage of it, as it will probably take me at least 2 hours to complete my course, then there will be another good half an hour in a food queue, then I will miss my bus slot! Pity.

It wasn't the IT level of knowledge I was commenting on - I have every sympathy with that. It was the expectation of the event organisers.

Don't waste time queuing for food - take your own food and queue for beer instead.

I think you've just described a perfect opportunity for a "buddy system" -spot a mate in one of the queues give him your order and take his for the other one. Simples
(better still if you have a mate in both queues)

Get a Pint (or several) and Burger after your run to replenish carbs and protein.
Miss your bus and take a nice 5-6mile warm-down jog over Muncaster Fell to work the alcohol out of your system before the drive to your accommodation.
Wonder why your relay team-mates are hacked off after you run like someone 4 times your age on the Sunday. This last step is not obligatory.

Quite glad i'm not going just looks like a farse! People with buses 6.5 hours before their start time and thier return bus one hour BEFORE thier start. Anyone predicting some chaos?

And there was a pub next to the bus stop at the event. Great fun watching the bus marshalls coming in the pub to call people out for the next bus, in a very good humoured way after what must have been a long hard day.
