You can get student entry prices for individual races.
Why not in relays?

Re: Student Relay Prices
No reason why not as far as I can see. Whilst the Student Clubs relay teams will undoubtedly be challenging for the prizes they are not numerous enough to affect the event financially.

Re: Student Relay Prices
Straightforward enough for university teams, but what about students running for open clubs with non-student team mates? or for that matter, juniors running in a senior team?
When the entry money is paid you don't know who is going to be in the team.

Re: Student Relay Prices
In my experience relays are generally subsidised by the university club or even the university itself, perhaps this is why it's never really been considered.

What do you mean by reduced silverware? British Champions two years in a row. JK champions 2010, 2nd 2011. Countless individual medals on the world stage.
Oh I forgot people in Edinburgh think that BUCS is a MASSIVE competition. Sorry.

INT won. I believe the remark was about silverware.

tongue in cheek comment aside, do you not get relays subsidised by the uni? I did even though I went to a relatively non orienteering uni..

Then they aren't a student team.

Unfortunately whilst Sheffield University Orienteering Club would love to be experts on picking lottery numbers we are not. We are however experts at winning domestic relay competitions.

Re: Student Relay Prices
Apologies for the typo. You heard it here first.
They do subsidise and ShUOC being strong in the pocket at the moment will be able to but I don't think Ralph was raising the point solely from a ShUOC point of view, more from a University orienteering stance. I'd happily pay the £15 each it costs myself, but I enjoy orienteering. Someone who is just getting in to it may not.

They have a bigger colouring pencil budget but that is beside the point here Mharky. What are you doing on here? Shouldn't you be tied to an oven baking cake or making an orienteering jigsaw?
