After a year cut off from human society collecting the data for this post, I have emerged to find that the world has moved on, the Results and Rankings thread is long dead, and no-one cares any more. However, to give credit to the clubs who do a good job of getting results up to the BOF website:
The Rapid Upload award for 2011 is shared between LEI and AIRE. LEI managed a perfect record of uploading every ranking event to the BOF website on the day of the event. AIRE were slightly less than perfect - twice having other things to do on the Saturday evening of a weekend event - but managed same-day upload of more events, including even getting a night event (Temple Newsham) uploaded before midnight.
Four more clubs - WIM, SN, CLYDE and SMOC - achieved perfect scores but on smaller numbers of events. A further 8 clubs - LOC, DEE, SROC, EUOC, BADO, INT, SLOW and BKO - got everything up no later than the following day.
The full table is here: apologies for any mistakes or injustices, which I'm happy to correct if required. http://www.dorien.co.uk/O/ranking.php
A Happy New Year to all!

Very interesting. I was very surprised esoc weren't mentioned as I always upload quickly. Then I saw a -500 for not uploading a level C event that shouldn't have been a level C (it was a chasing sprint), perhaps I should be double checking that our events have the right classification!

How many people use the BOF website to look for immediate results?
Everyone I know goes to the organising club's website - EPOC always get their results up same day.

Apologies Andy - I've excluded the Chasing Sprint. You're now in the top 10.

Just on the subject of ESOC, I was very surprised, initially, to not see their name mentioned.
Two examples come to mind: Tentsmuir in 2010, Barry Buddon in 2011. At both I finished, got changed, chatted to a few people and drove the shortish journey to just the other side of Perth. On both occasions the results had been uploaded to BOF by the time I had got home.

Nice idea
and thanks for taking time to do it, though sometimes the delays in getting the results up are not the fault of the club.
For example I recall that there was an issue with uploading results to the BOF site in the first week of Jan and sometimes issues have to be dealt with such as deciding what to do when people illegally punch through fences.
Though sometimes, there are delays in the system and this table may help improve the time it takes for some clubs to get the results up. We shouldn't expect instantaneous results, but it'd be nice

Re: Fastest Results Uploads 2011
Can I point out that there are a number of clubs who have never uploaded results - I can't believe that they have never held a event at C or above and that there are a significant number of events that were published as giving the opportunity to gain rankings points which still owe me them? (seems that my good runs don't get published while my bad ones always get uploaded)
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

as long as results that are meant to be park of BOF rankings do actually get uploaded within the time limit set by bof though. (For me) the BOF results aren't for actually getting results, they are for compiling the results list. I could see it being otherwise if they had some sort of api/feed, but until then there's no point because club sites are generally better. I guess some people use the list (not just for seeing how they are doing but some clubs may use it for handicaps and the like) so it's good to see it correct.

Re: Fastest Results Uploads 2011
Great idea. Thanks for doing the stats. I too spend my Sunday evenings hitting 'refresh' on various club websites. It's always great to have results up on-the-day even if they are only 'provisional'.
But it seems to takes an age to get the ranking points. My experience is that its usually late in the week - or even the following weekend. I appreciate that if there have been technical problems or controversy this can delay final results, but surely this happens only at a small number of events?
I have heard of events that NEVER get the rankings uploaded before the deadline. Luckily this has never happened to me - I would be devastated having often travelled some distance with the hope of improving my position.

A bit off-topic but is there an API or feed for fixtures?

Why shouldn't a Chasing Sprint be a level C event? Do putative new WOC formats have to be level D or something

You can change the club and assoc to suit or leave them off for a wider search.
I use this on many of my O websites to show a list of related events, like this example on the SOA website (right column).

Mass start & chasing events are not included in the rankings, but that does not mean they need to be registered at level D. There are plenty of events at levels A, B & C that are unranked.
It is now being suggested that clubs should upload results for level D events, so that the new navigation & racing incentive scheme certificates can be issued automatically.
http://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/page/incentives
Though I'm not sure how that will work as I don't think the database includes the length or TD of courses.

What is the problem Pete ?
Lots of clubs have been uploading Level D results since the new system was introduced.

Re: Fastest Results Uploads 2011
Our club has indeed been uploading all suitable events including level D. My "problem" is that only conventional cross country type events fit the upload system. We have many score events which don't make any sense if uploaded since you would end up with a list based solely on time taken. Therefore our own results page on our website is essential for results
display.
The old results system allowed a URL to be submitted which was then linked to from the BO results page. I would like something similar to be possible where the event type is not suitable to upload.
