It has to be wearing a Tayside top!
And I thought someone had posted about the SoSOL (pronounced sozzle) fixtures!

Re: South of Scotland Orienteering League
I have just noticed that KFO are staging a SoSOL at Tentsmuir on 10th June 2012. Does this mean that the decision has been taken to move the league season to calendar year rather than autumn/winter/spring?
ps I know that looking at the BOF fixture list and posting on Nopesport on Christmas Day makes me even more of a sad muppet, but the girls have got Strictly Come Dancing on.

No, this was discussed at the ESOA AGM in October, but it was decided to leave as it is. No clubs seemed to want to have an event in the Autumn this year. The 10th June event may not be the last one as ESOC plan to have one in May/June (but May seems to be full now). I believe that ELO & INT would both like to hold SoSOL's in the spring, therefore there should be another two/three added to the calendar.

Re: South of Scotland Orienteering League
Does anybody know anything about the ELO SoSOL event on 26th February 2012 at Lothian Edge?
Their club website "Activities & Events" page is years out of date (They are still looking forward to Tay 2009). The British Orienteering website only lists an organiser's name, but no contact details.
Is the event pre-entry as per SoSOL's 1 & 2 or is it EOD only?

They are generally held on Sunday mornings with starts from 11:00 to 12:30 and there is generally no need to pre-enter.
From the ESOA website - although I suspect pre-entries are becoming more the norm since that was written.
Orienteering - its no walk in the park

Re: South of Scotland Orienteering League
The ELO website will be updated later this evening (once the planner has finished tweaking the map on my computer). The road to the area is susceptible to snow and ice and there must be a non-negligible chance of cancellation at this time of year so we decided not to set up pre-entry for this event.
We hope that many of you will come to an area of open moorland and fast running grazing with several areas of intricate contour detail and superb views over the Forth.

The river we had to ford today was COLD!!!!
Just as well that my feet were numb with the wet and cold to begin with.
Great course and an excellent map. Thanks for everyone's efforts
