Am planning to go to this tomorrow http://www.elo.org.uk/ and thought I'd better read the instructions as Robin and Sheila make it as complex as SI can cope with. I'd never heard of "Only Connect" so went on the website http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00lskhg/features/quiz
for some clues.
It's hard. It turned into an additional family game today with 4 of us failing to solve most of them (until we went on a Cramond pub crawl deciding we had beer insufficiency). You think you have the connection and then discover 2 of your answers belong to a different set or there is no obvious connection until read the answer and it becomes obvious (unless it's about famous footballers).
There is no hope for me. The dominos theme a couple of years ago was hard, and I can play dominos.

It is just for bonus points. If I don't get the connections straight away I'll blunder along as usual. After all, I just need to finish to make it 35 events!

Darn it! I meant to look at those links but I got caught up watching The Borrowers and Eastenders, and eating the Boxing Day buffet. Too late now, I'll just have to wing it tomorrow.

the £1.49 iphone app of the game didn't really help as today was substantially easier than those ones! An excellent novelty event

Re: ELO's Festive Frolic
Agree, I was rubbish at it as I decided to start collecting one "set" after getting 2 early on and didn't find item 3 until about my 17th control, leaving me with insufficient time to run round them in the "right" order. On the other hand if I'd dibbed them all first time round I'd have had no time to make links as I'm very unfit at the moment.
It was great fun though, a lovely day and a good way of making us run around for an hour in a smallish area.
And there was soup.

Glad you enjoyed it.
Sorry the results were not available for a prize giving. There is nothing like a live event for finding bugs in software
but they are now available here.
(I assure you that the younger SIpersons had seen neither the courses nor the clues. It is just in their genes to run fast

It's reassuring when SI also goes wrong for SI man...even if he's attempting something fiendishly complex and I struggle with the basic stuff.
