I am aware that there are issues with the website which need to be addressed urgently, such as reports from major British events
I would have said a more urgent necessity was to get some relevant text on the pages that are "under construction".
I do welcome comments although you must recognise when it comes to websites, everyone has their own ideas.
Everyone will agree that the main purpose of a website is to convey information. Yes, format/appearance can have a significant effect, but I will always prefer a site which has the info I'm looking for rather than one that looks good and doesn't. A website such as that of BOF acts as an advertisement, if people can't get the information that they think is there it can put them off.
There will be new pages and improved links to make it easier to access coaching issues, a dedicated newcomers section and the World Class pages promoting the elite side of orienteering with improved athlete profiles etc.
No need to worry about the links - they're all there (unnecessarily) already! Why not just put the links up when the pages are ready?? Although it's good we'll have the information about coaching etc...
The website has been slow at moving along
It launched at the beginning of March, and apart from events, results and news I haven't seen much done on it, apart from the recent introduction to the Elite section. Once you have the format for a page, it doesn't take that long to create new pages as long as you have something to put on them. looking at the site map, there are 25 pages with descriptions and about 65 with <text to be supplied> - some of which do have text on them (like the results page). Is the wait due to the lack of info from BOF, or a lack of time for website construction (is it volunteer done, or paid?)?
Getting volunteers to send in reports on events has been very difficult in the past; perhaps Nopesport users have suggestions
Well, people seem to be willing to write reports for the major events for Nopesport...
