Does anyone know what the start times for this are likely to be as there is nothing published on the web and I tried asking the organiser but no response.
It also says it is at Gleadless Valley, how easy is that to get to from the main train station?
Train fares are now on sale, so trying to see if I can get there in time.........

There's a supertram from the station to Gleadless Townend (but how far the event is from there I've no idea)

I think it's "normal" start times, between 1030 and 1230. Gleadless is easily accessible by public transport from the station (plenty of busses as well as the tram).
The 0825 and 0855 from St Pancras will both get you there in time.

Thanks Spookster, I was looking at the 8.55 as an option.

I can confirm the start times are 10:30 - 12:30.
Easy access from supertram with a stop (Herdings - Leighton Road) adjacent to Valley Park School which is the assembly.

And, as last year, you can make it a Nopesport Urban League double header with the Lincoln Race the following day.
Flyer available at http://www.logonline.org.uk and entries are now open on Fabian.

It's also a Yorkshire Urban League race, where the competition is hotting up for the final races. See http://www.orienteering.ilkley.org/club ... 202011.htm

Yes, that's Gleadless Valley.
Interestingly if you look at the Police.UK crime maps you'll see that the number of reports of violent crime in Gleadless are around 10 times less than in Sheffield city centre (where the race has previously been) which is comparable with other city centres (e.g. London, Nottingham).

Archimedes, not sure what point you're trying to make, but Gleadless Valley has been
used perfectly OK for the 2 events up to 2007 which used ISOM maps and the same applies to the wooded part of it known as Coneygree and Leashall which was used 3 times between 1992 and 2004.
While you're at it, why not tell us how many murders there have been in the area used
for the City of London Race? But however high the figure is, it has no bearing on how safe it is to use the area for urban-o.

Final details have been posted. They are up early due to holiday commitments. It would be worth checking the details again prior to the event to check if there have been any minor amendments.

...and seeing as Sheffield was the largest city in [edit] England (there were some shenanigans in Leeds I believe - although that could have been the Leeds-Bradford game!) to not have rioting, you'll know there'll be no trouble as those above thought might happen!
(either that or there's nothing worth looting - good job the controls'll all be grippled then!)

There was a bit of a riot in Glasgow - but not the usual sort.....

Credit to Terry for pointing this out.
Luckily Gerry (ref the wild boar incident) was out of town that day.
