Dunno if this is an adequate excuse, but oh well U did good Dad!!

I'd accept that as an excuse. 34 degrees is not something we'll have to worry about in Oban...

Okay - any advances on a bronze medal for Eileen Bedwell

(I'm a bit worried about Madmike)

Madmike was an idiot as he was sick before the start and went and ran (walked, staggered and generally fell over round the course) anyway in that heat. Fortunately the nice Hungarian Doctor and his drip seem to have helped a lot albeit Madmike feels like he was run over by a bus.

btw I have no ideawhat the results were including my own.

Heat can't be used as an excuse Maybe a reason! It's always hot in Central East Europe in summer & a serious athlete would be fully prepared... But this is WMOC & not quite at the top of the sporting preperation tree so 34 degrees is an acceptable reason

great event and really well organised.
It was unbelievably hot towards the end of the week, but the cold showers and the local fire brigade spraying you with cold water certainly helped. Got up to 38 degrees for the prize giving.

The cold beer also helped. We could learn a lot about how to create an atmosphere at our bigger events.

Mega mistakes were made by some (including yours truly) not only because of the heat but also because of the 'vortex effect' of the 25 meter plus deep depressions into which you could be 'sucked' and 'thrown out' not in the direction you expected. I suspect only those that were there and fell foul of this dreaded phenomenon will understand what I'm talking about

'Negative' terrain like this needs practice, and maybe somewhat cooler weather to get to grips with.
