Anyone else noticed alot more FC red tape recently?
I had a list of about 30 "stakeholders" to contact re our ill fated Dalguise event last year but presumed that was because it was due to be a SoSOL and CSC qualifier.
We're planning to hold a local event at Kinnoull on Easter Sun for folk not heading to NI, I told FC I expected 50ish and thy've just emailed me a list of about 70 "stakeholders" to inform!
Everyone living within a mile or so radius plus every group with any interest in Kinnoull is on this list including a bat group, a Giraffe cafe?, ramblers, police, mtb goup, 6 different people from P&K council and the community council.
Completely mad.
Have emailed back saying I think it's excessive for the level of event. Seems totally contrary to the outdoor access code (or whatever it's called)
Are other clubs having this nonsense? It's the first time they've done this to me with Kinnoull and I've been organising TAY permissions for over 5 years.

Re: Forestry commission "stakeholders"
Please can you contact me directly on this. I had a meeting with FCS last Thursday to discuss access agreements so I need to know full details and copy of what they sent to you etc.

Not had anything remotely like that with our FC areas this year.

Sounds somewhat OTT ~ hope they don't spread this style of consultation south of the border.

Re: Forestry commission "stakeholders"
well, since they have given you the email addresses of most of the locals, you might want to take up the publicity opportunity, invite them along, send them an email flier to distribute etc etc.
Perhaps the Giraffe Cafe could be persuaded to put a poster and give the locals a heads up about the event.
(emotion for groan).

I don't think that's what he said - and if that is what the FC have done, if I was a local I'm not sure how happy I'd be at my e-mail address being distributed in that way.

Re: Forestry commission "stakeholders"
Addresses for all, email addresses for about 1/4. Have just noticed Dave Prentice is on the list. It does look as though they've just made a list of every organisation connected with Kinnoull plus the locals and called it "stakeholders".
Not a bad thing for the FC to have as a reference for their area but mad to suggest I contact them all for local events. Makes me wish I hadn't campaigned against the FC being sold off as the last Easter event was on woodland owned privately by Scone Palace and they just said "yes fine, here use one of our car parks for free".

Have you ever had a notice from the bat guys informing you THEY were going out on a bat hunt?
I've also had some pretty excessive guidance about access, this time from our council access officer. For this weekends Erskine urban event we've had to print up notices to put up in the event area (yes the whole area) telling people that they may see runners on the paths but that its OK they can still walk on the paths and we wont get in their way.

But are we allowed to run on the paths - or must we step aside to let the locals wander past?
