I immensely enjoyed the Welsh Championship weekend, two days of excellent weather on technical terrain with stunning views. If you missed the events, there's not much you can do about it now. However, I also enjoyed reading the final details, the highlights of which I can share:
Both events take place on the Gower peninsula - an area of outstanding natural beauty (unless you are lost) - which can be exposed when weather conditions are difficult.
This is Wales.
It rains a lot.
The headland area can be very dangerous as it is surrounded by large cliffs.
Failure to notice cliff tops will result in long, steep drops onto hard rock, sand or sea which will hurt and also impede course times.
The Organiser is from Port Talbot. You will probably drive through this industrialised town en-route to the event. He is living proof that extended exposure to high pollution levels have damaging effects on the brain. Please bear this in mind if dealing with him.
I'll forgive an event a lot if I get a good laugh out of it. On this occasion, there was nothing to forgive, unless anyone is worried about the winning times for the Short Championship being slightly on the short side (and I'm certainly not).
