My secret is out then! Maybe as a Professional Officer I will have to be careful about what I say on the forum in future. Looking forward to making a start in January - meanwhile I am hoping to get up to the event on the 19th to start meeting folks on the Scottish O scene.

Re: New SOA Professional Officer
I would like to think that you could carry on contributing to Nope. You can make it clear that your views are not necessarily those of the SOA.
There are members of the British board on here and I think everyone understands their position clearly.
Perhaps you just need to be more transparent in your username so there is no confusion over who you are.
I would like to see more people contribute to Nope, but the comments I get are that it's all so negative and it's only a limited number of peoples views. So I keep pointing out that if more "normal" people got involved it wouldn't be so polarised.
It's like politics, if you don't vote you can't complain about the outcome.
Apologies to all the abnormal contributors to Nope, but you all know that you aren't normal, because you are all special in your own way
. The key factor is that you are obviously passionate about orienteering, or why would you bother?

Oooo nice extraction from a tight spot there Paul. Your post reminded me of the film Gremlins - half way through I thought I'm not enjoying this - but it all came right at the end
Good luck Freefall

Good luck Freefall

Seems a bit like Paul's orienteering too judging from some of his Routegadget GPS plots

Freefall - judging from your biog on the SOA site seems like we've bagged a winner - good luck and look forward to working with you!

They should try doing a consultation though "standard" official channels like
SCORE or the SOA website. then they'd know what a "limited number of
peoples views" sounds like.
Anyhoo, good luck Colin, we'll being lining up a hundred or so people for you to meet on
the 19th
