Extra Orienteering Weekend Opportunity
For every winner, there are dozens of losers. Odds are you're one of them.

I think I'll probably still be at work!! But if not I guess it will be orienteering if there is any, or geocaching. Or probably painting/crafting with kids as they won't be at school!

50% chance I'll be working if it's a "Bank holiday weekend" But not on the "B.H. Monday" so some fairly local event would be very good then please. Otherwise I'll seize the chance of quiter roads and go somewhere nice for a walk or a run whilst Jo Pubic sits at home watchingthe T.V.

Pity it's not at some other time - there are just too many bank holidays then. Easter is very late and we already have Easter Monday on 25th April and Mayday bank holiday the following Monday. Now we will have another bank holiday on the Friday 28th April. It really disrupts school as the kids will only have gone back on the Wednesday. It would have been far nicer to have had another bank holiday in June perhaps - never mind!

Anybody fancy escaping it by joining me on a plane to Sweden?

Re: Extra Orienteering Weekend Opportunity
Can I re vote as I'll be in Irelans still after the JK.
On the bright side I still have time to choose a cottage with no TV and it won't count as a day off my holiday total as it's now a public holiday so I can have an xtra day sometime of my own choosing.
Does seem daft for it now to be a 3 day working week following a four day working week and then another short week after the May day bank holiday. It'll make the working day more hectic with more to squeeze in to shorter weeks for a lot of people.

This will help working families as this is one less day in the school hols to sort childcare out.
And another way of irritating teachers who will have the bank holiday in their holiday. Bill did say he would get revenge on his History teacher one day.
Is TioMila really really hard, and too hard for lots of southerners not used to technical orienteering? (not you Scott).

Mmm - the youngest Miss H is meant to go back to school on Wednesday 27th for which we will have to high tail back from Ireland. I wonder if school will change the holiday?

SeanC - TioMila is definitely doable by us soft Southerners (although perhaps be aware that Sweden at that time of year can be a bit chiller that we are used to). I found the navigation pretty tricky, but the tracking up/large number of other runners/occasional controls with giant floodlights and TV cameras helps with not getting completely lost. I went in 2008 with a (mostly) non-Elite JOK/OUOC team and it was a fantastic experience, which is why I'm so keen to go again next year, when it has the added advantage of being really close to Stockholm...

Scott,
if it looks like a runner - I'll do a leg.
Jukola - just do it - unbelieveable experience and not just Dunc's driving

Re: Extra Orienteering Weekend Opportunity
Mike - let's do it. As it has been firmly established that you are a better night orienteer than me I'll pencil you in for the 16km night leg
Seriously, anybody else fancy it? I know distracted is trying to assemble a JOK team, but I guess the number of responses he gets is unlikely to be exactly ten.
