embarrassing injury stories

I think mine must be the injury at the Welsh Champs a number of years ago. I ended up in the ambulance escorted by my son. Husband was too busy getting changed to deal with the blood pouring from my thumb Once I arrived at ambulance I fainted about par for the course but once lying down I had to answer the questions:
Was it barbed wire? No
What did I cut my finger on? A knife
How did that happen? Making the sandwiches of course
Was the knife clean? Actually yes brand new

Even so steri strips wouldn't work so we had to go to Bangor hospital and go through all the questions again after waiting 3 hours to be seen

My previous answer was wrong (I did mention I had plenty to choose from). In an orienteering context it has to be running straight into a big branch crossing the track at just about head height - didn't enter the normal peripheral vision when running along looking at the map, planning ahead (just as all the training manuals suggest you do on easy running). Another cartoon incident - head stopped, rest of body carried on due to momentum and I ended up flat on my back slightly stunned.

In a non orienteering context it's probably breaking a rib when landing on the side of the punt whilst punt-jousting.

until I tied by feet together with my own shoe laces running downhill, my embarrassing story would have also been "assault by a tree". I was collecting controls at an event I'd planned and was visiting the control site for, probably, the 6th time when I ran into the tree branch that had been there the whole time.

Trees hurt! I have a picture of the "claret" streaming down my face en-route to the hospital but it's too large to show here.

I've had numerous "tree incidents". Mrs AR does sometimes wonder whether trees maliciously jump out in front of me.

Mine was twisting my knee at work; took a while to fix as well.

Only last week I walked downstairs in my socks and bruised a toe on my SAFETY shoe that I'd left at the bottom. Not truly an injury because it didn't stop me competing at the weekend but the toe was definitely purple!

Playing cricket on the rest day of the French 6 days
Leaving work while on site in Dijon
Playing football in the village hall accommodation on the eve of ?National Event?
Walking from the car park to the campsite the night before I was supposed to be supporting someone's BGR attempt
Walking to the bar
At the end of an injury-free French 5 days, running from the ferry terminal into town to buy a newspaper
Christmas shopping in Birmingham

Friends will no doubt be able to supply others I have suppressed.

Not embarrassing so much as bloody annoying. I had a egg thrown at me whilst running home from circuit training last Tuesday, & this is what my hip tooked like on Friday morning (less than 3 days later)!



It's now much prettier & less painful, but I'm now going to be far more wary of speeding chavs in noisy cars, even on a well lit, busy main road
