Choose to string up and set alight effigies of David Beckham after France 98. Choose to celebrate wildly 4 years later when he scores against Greece and decide to worship him from then on. Choose to sing "Stand up if you hate Man U!" at Wembley when Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, David Beckham and Nicky Butt are playing. Choose going without a trophy for longer than City. Choose to support Terry, Gerrard, Lampard and Cole. Choose relaying your pitch every four months at a cost of 125k and still getting it wrong. Choose to boo during the 50th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster minute silence at Wembley. Choose banning a United player for 8 months for committing the same offence a City player received no ban for. Choose to get giddy over friendlies. Choose booing your own players at half-time, full-time and whenever they touch the ball. Choose Beckham and Cristiano dartboards. Choose one star on your shirt. Choose calling Rooney a fat bastard all season then chant his name until you lose your voice. Choose delusion of the highest degree. Choose 44 years of f all. Choose penalties. Choose scapegoats. Choose INGERLERND.

Please refer to my post above.
Steve McLaren was English (oh yeah great job Steve and fantastic umbrella didn't even qualify)
Kevin Keegan was English (lost to Romania and didn't get out the group)
Glen Hoddle was English (used a faith healer to pick the team)
Terry Venables was English (did well but didn't have to qualify)
Graham Taylor was English (couldn't beat Sweden or qualify for the world cup)
Bobby Robson was English (unlucky with hand of God)
Ron Greenwood was English (didn't get out the group)
So in conclusion England must have an English manager.

Re: Engerlanddd
I don't know blank about football and was watching the A1 when the match was on, but statistically...
Relative to the size of the population England did OK.
it's certain that England could definately win the world cup for having the most whingy commentators. Especially Jimmy Arnfield.
So my conclusion is that England should combine with Scotland, Wales and NI to make a UK team, which will statistically give us more chance of beating the Germans. And if we lost we could always blame each other.

Sir Alf Ramsey was English -but then how many top Premiership Managers are?
and as for the "UK" Team there have been many periods in the past where you'd end up with 11 Englishmen on the pitch anyway. Before the Scots , Welsh and Irish start quoting great players like George Best, Kenny Dalgleish and Ian Rush I did say "periods"....
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: Engerlanddd
I've heard Colin Hendry and Ryan Giggs were decent players. Also there must be a scottish/welsh/n irish goalkeeper who's nickname doesn't begin with "calamity".
And it would be England if we win, and UK if we lose.

Demography is no laughing matter. Population of England in 2001 49,138,831, which makes England the 26th biggest country by population size in the world http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_co ... population, just behind South Africa.
Of course someone will argue that England with it's developed sporting facilities* should do better than some bigger countries, so last 16 seems a reasonable par.
The sad fact is, folks, that with all these other countries developing their sporting facilities and generally getting richer..statistically..... we ..... ie England..... will.... never...... win....
...... struggling now........ the world cup again.
*maybe
