The BOF Council voted by one vote to move the British Juniors champs back to the adults at Penhale for 2005. This date may well be moved earlier so as to avoid examinations. The FCC final will be held in Conjunction with the World Cup instead.
Nopesport making a difference anybody?! Yey!
And could people please call it WCup 2005? It's not WOC!

It looks like they're looking at the last two weekends in April, but if they held it the weekend of April 11/12th that's still the Easter hols for a lot of people which might ease the travelling situation for some - what's the situation in Scotland next year?

The FCC will be at the World Cup so they can keep the money for the development program. And yes, I think Peter G is right, that's a very good idea. Not sure which weekend of the World Cup it;ll be though...

Mrs H.
Are you saying that the intention is to move the British Champs to April? The move will have to be to a holiday weekend of some sort for it to make any sense.

I do believe the phrase was "investigating the possiblity of moving"

Ta. Certainly an improvement, and makes some sense, but still going to be a nightmare weekend, without any holidays either side. I hope they start the relays early and keep them short! Given the fact that junior relays tend to start early, I can see us oldies not running unless they do.

April 11/12th is in the uni vacation and I think the school hols too. EdUni restarts on the 19th (Mon 18th is the Edinburgh Public Holiday - lets have the relays then!).
Edinburgh/Glasgow-Exeter £35 with FlyBE.

It would definitely be an improvement if the event was moved to April to avoid exam clashes.
But not too much fuss over the distance to travel if a non bank holiday weekend please - the drive to Newquay from (say) Manchester is only about the same distance as a drive from Edinburgh or Stirling to (say) Birmingham (or indeed back to Stirling from yesterday's CompassSport Trophy final...).
And it is probably a much quicker drive back from Newquay if not trying to escape Cornwall at the end of a bank holiday weekend!

Schools in Aberdeenshire go back to school on the 11th April so both of the proposed weekends will be in term time. Edinburgh's the same but Glasgow's a week later on 18th.
It'll still be way better than the previous arrangement but go easy on those Edinburgh flights please, Aberdeen doesn't do Exeter.

Manchester is somewhat further south and west coast. Ilkley to Newquay = 387 miles, about the same as travelling about 30 miles north of Inverness.
Don't get me wrong - we've all got to accept that sometimes big distances need to be travelled, and some do it rather more than sometimes. But if somewhere in the middle of the country is that far from the British (meaning that for many others it's a lot further), then it shouldn't be held on a non-holiday weekend.
Unfortunately, the 11th isn't a holiday weekend round here either.
This far in advance is obviously difficult to tell, but I think our attendance could depend on what teams we can get out. It probably isn't worth it for a one-off race. Penhale is OK but it's not that brilliant, and there will be better competitions in the year that will be cheaper and less stressful to get to and from.
