say what you like about BOF (and many do...) but at least they haven't invested in mascots...

Re: mascots?
Ok I'll take the bait - What do we think an Orienteering mascot should look like?
Dividing disciplines I can see two obvious ones; a Cheetah with a compass in its paw for sprint O and an Owl with a compass on its wing for Night O but I'm sure someone will think of others -probably involving a tortoise

Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: mascots?
I've gone off capercaillies...
Definitely not something with one eye and a bulging crotch, the olympic mascots are very wrong.
Suspect different clubs would have different mascots, don't think we'd pick a cheetah somehow, unless it was a postmodern ironic comment and that sounds too highbrow for us. EUOC or Interlopers can have the cheetah, TAY would maybe be an ordinary moggie witha tendancy to all want to go off and do our own thing and sometimes just want to sit in front of the fire and sleep!

Re: mascots?
If we're doing it on a club basis there are clubs (and ones that have been nice to me) that do have default mascots LEIOC have a fox and Harlequins is obvious.
Now what does a "Droober" look like?
My own Club NATO should, I suppose, have the archetypal Geordie ,Andy Capp, but has he spends his life asleep on the couch when not in the pub that doesn't fit a number of the club members at all.
Now would CLOK's mascot tick?
