Yep, I'd forgotten you would have been going for Knolls. I am not sure about approaching the reentrant, it may have been better to have gone round the bottom and up the reentrant rather than over the ridge.

mistakes are made, this should (in my view) ALWAYS be the most important thing, not only should the competitor learn (to check codes) but a planner/controller should always listen to what people say and strive to perfect future events.
Whether a breach of rules is present or not is somewhat irrelevant, the fact that it is being discussed at all shows it was ambiguous and should have been picked up by the controller (and to a lesser extent the planner)

And can I add how useful it is to have this forum on which to discuss this type of thing?
Not so long ago your only options were to:
A - Harangue the controller if you could find him/her
B - Harangue your spouse even though he/she doesnt give two hoots about it
C - Sit in a darkened room until the following Sunday when you could harangue anyone you can find in the carpark at the next event!
