And who says we have an image problem? I just found this on a thread talking about Stag Nights in Latvia being a pain:

Stag nights are naff but its just that naff trash is the cultural driving force these days in britain.
I would also say that binge drinking hasnt always been there, its a relatively new development in its current extreme form. But its a bit sad when people need to ritually and symbolically self destruct in order to bond and rather than bonding usually end up fighting. Send them all to church, let them join the cub scouts and learn to tie knots and read maps and stuff. Instead of binge drinking they should go orienteering.

Re: Silly guardian thread
It's true... stag groups in Riga are a pain in the neck... but the Russian Mafia that run numerous bars and clubs in Riga are a much bigger pain. It is not unheard of for stag groups to be charged up to £120 (yes, that's correct!) for one beer in some dodgy clubs... and if they argue the odds on getting beaten up are pretty good:)
A number of bars and restaurants in Riga have just signed up to a tourist charter promising safe venues, normal prices etc etc and a bigger number have made it onto a listing published by the US Embassy as location staff & US Nationals are banned from....
And, yes... they should just go orienteering because around Riga, it's great...
And, no... we don't get stag groups in Vilnius
And, finally... the mayor of Riga should stop mouthing off & concentrate on sorting his own ecomomic situation out, the president should stop hiking VAT and they should devalue the currency as it's stupidly overvalued..... and finally, they should educate the police that it's not nice to accept backhanders from club and bar owners...

It's true though that BOF membership has declined since the Hofmeister bear, alcopops and super strength lager.
Not sure about going to church though. Whenever I've been there's always some bloke in fancy dress knocking back the wine.

Ministers orienteering? there's a thought. Can't imagine which one? John Prescott? Anne Widdecombe? Wait I think it's Harriet Harman. I think that must be, Mrs H.

I meant minister of religion, which is what the previous post implied.

I know.
Just read that Boris the mayor has been orienteering in Mrs W's garden. Not sure what the reaction would be to him in lycra and figure huging trimtex.
