Does anyone know what the BOF Levees for an event are?
Thanks

Re: BOF Levees
Assuming you mean levies vice levees
. They are something like this!
LEVY COSTS - BASED ON CURRENT 2009 MODEL
Participation Rate
75 Lower Participation Rate
250 Higher Participation Rate
Levies £1.60 Lower Levy - for all participants over the lower participation rate and
up to and including the higher participation rate.
£2.60 Higher Levy - for all participants over the higher participation rate
‘Junior only’ events will be able to apply for exemption from levy.

To quote the BOF web site:
Please Note: The new ER3 Participation and Levy form can be found by club fixture secretaries via their login and under ‘Finished Events’

Oldman,
would it not be more useful to have the form on the open bit of the BOF website as most organisers will need to factor in levies to their financial planning!

I agree, but you'd better ask BOF - I was just trying to help by looking it up.

Every club can have two people with access. There's nothing stopping you nominating someone (e.g. an event organiser) to be one of those, then they'll be able to update event details etc too...

Re: BOF Levees
Afraid ... I challenged the decision to add most of the reporting facilities to the private menu accessable only to club fixtures secretaries ( and nominated deputy) .... and lost.
The levee return is one of those reports; printing a fixture list is another report which I also believe should be publicically available. There is nothing on the printed format that is not obtainable by anyone via "Find event".
However... The official BOF response " it has been decided" to there you have it !
So if you want to be able to submit a levee return after your event you will have to ask your club fixture secretary to do this for you. This I know is daft but... nuf said.
It is however going to take more than comments on Nopesport to get BOF to change their mind regarding their use of the panel of the chosen few.
1) You can lobby for change ~ if sufficient folk ask BOF may listen.
2) You can change your panel of 2 so that the organiser of your next event is your club's deputy nominee. If all clubs did this BOF would soon realise that the fixture secretary is not usually the club official who writes the cheques.
University clubs can nominate 2 members to be on the panel of the chosen ~ it doesn't seem to matter that they hold an official Fixtures Secretary title. You could nominate the social co-ordinator or the member you hires and drives the minibus to events.
Nothing seems to have changed in regard to the Fixtures web site facilities since the BOF AGM. There has been a period, enforced by the fact that the web site developer ceased trading, to allow the system to bed down.
With the arrival of the new season now is probably the time to press for improvements. A new company is now in place to carry the web site developments forward.
The Association Fixture Secretaries developed a "things still to do list" in the run up to the BOF AGM.
The new fixtures facilities have now been in place for 6 months. If you want improvements now is the time to let BOF know what you think.
Great to see Ollie has been able to reinstate the course indicators on his Interactive Orienteering map facility. We now just need a few more club fixtures secretaries to set up accurate course matrices on the BOF database.

Re: BOF Levees
this is crazy! firstly you might suppose BOF would want the levies paid as soon as possible so would make it as easy as possible, secondly they should be making everyones' jobs as simple as possible instead of involving more hard worked volunteers to do more jobs than necessary - and thirdly - if the information is only available to a chosen few......what happened to transparency?

BOF is getting less & less transparent... I recently asked what the targets for Team GB at the World Games & WOC were for 2009... the reply I got was:
The targets form part of the Whole Sport Plan and our funding submissions for Sport England and UK Sport. The emphasis is improvement across the whole of the programme across the entire 4 year funding cycle (and beyond) rather than having a big emphasis on single competitions.
But still have no idea what the actual targets were / are... seems to me this WSP gives BOF something to hide behind:(
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

Well it looks like someone might be agreeing with you Gross
From the news page link to Major topics:
I wonder why and by whom?

British Orienteering has recently been informed by one of our funding partners, Sport England, that a request has been made to them under the Freedom of Information Act regarding the Orienteering WSP.
I wonder why and by whom?

I understand the way the system works is that two club members have access to the levy part of the system. 'A person' can enter the event details, numbers participating etc, making allowance for helpers and groups etc, and then the levy is calculated. The form on screen becomes the official 'return', is then printed and handed to the treasurer or event organiser who sends the cheque to BOF.
IMO it is a good idea to have a limited number of people filling the form in so that it is done correctly. I think the system works fine.

Re: BOF Levees
RJ is correct ~ that's how it works.
i also agree, where details are being updated, it is sensible to restrict update authority to a panel of pre-approved individuals. This is particularly the case where events are being set up in the first place.
But... where you are just displaying information that is publically available elsewhere ( like a bespoke fixture listing) it seems bloddy minded to restrict that request to the chosen few.
Where i take issue with this particular "solution" however is that post event reporting is better done by the folk who know the relevent details. in this instance this reporting is most likely to be done in a timely manner if it is done by the event organiser or the club Treasurer.
So instead of making it a simple streamlined post event activity for volunteers organisers have to ask someone on the panel to raise the paperwork.
Computer systems should ( and can if thoughtfully constructed ) facilitate.
IMO just 6 out of 10 The "solution" works but "could do better".
