Re: WOC MIDDLE
I can see the live text, and hear the commentary, but none of the radio times are coming up. Can anyone else see them?

Doesn't fill you with confidence that if you pay to get GPS tracking or live TV later in the week that you'll get good value for money...

That's the good news. The bad news is that it isn't going great for GBR. So far Matt and Speakey have both missed qualifying, Oli is going to be close. Jo and Helen have also missed out, Rach might make it.

Re: WOC MIDDLE
Live results show Oli in 16th place & missing out....
But the guy from Germany in front by 5 seconds is down 3 times... so looks like Oli made it
Not a good day at the office for Team GB. The Long qualifiers are in the same region tomorrow.... lets hope for a much better performance.

From the live comments:

No big nations lost anyone from the finals today.
Looks like GBR isn't a big nation anymore in orienteering terms

Re: WOC MIDDLE
To be honest this year for the GB men seems like a year to set foundations for future success. With both JD and Jamie out of the picture, our best 2 runners, it gives the opportunity for some of the other lads to gain valuable experience, and maybe for the ones with a bit more experience to step up a level. Not suprised Oli was the only one who qualified, he's got the experience and been in good shape all year - I really think and hope he can get a top placing this year. GG seems to run well with good speed, but makes too many mistakes to fight for the top spots, hopefully he can fix his technique and confirm himself as a guy with individual medal potential. Still think the relay looks like the best discipline on paper for the lads.

Re: WOC MIDDLE
Happy that two of the guys made it (Oli and Rachael) - Matt Crane will probably be the most disappointed - he was mostly going well, but it looks like he was in a tough heat.

Re: WOC MIDDLE
Maps are up as well, go to http://live.woc2009.hu/ and Route Choices (= Route Gadget). It looks hard! Half the controls seem to be point features on steep slopes approached with no definite attack point nearby. Easy to miss I expect, especially in the green, and you could have a big hill to climb back to the control if you are really unlucky....

Re: WOC MIDDLE
Bit delayed as I was away for the weekend but 'yay' for the Czech team - everyone through when generally the Czechs say that middle is their weakest event. Should bode well for the rest of the week!
Also, respect to Simone Niggli for the quick comeback after baby!
