emit card number

I'm just trying to enter the Bentley Wood event on line. I have an old fashioned emit card with the number written on it. Mr H has a new all singing one without the number written on it. I tried pressing the red square as i seemed to think that was how you got the number to come up on the little screen but nothing is happening - am i doing it wrong?

the card has not been very much used.

A quick review of the emit 3 instructions says that it displays the card number if the red button is pressed "while not racing". Which leads to two possibilities a) defective card (and OK because they have 5 years warranty apparently) b) Mr H is still racing somewhere

MMM How long has he had it. Mine was supposed to be from a faulty batch. If you've discovered it now that will save a lot of heartache as if it fails in a race you are scuppered as I found out

Is it too soon to start another discussion along the lines of: 'But at least with Emit you have the option to use the backup card system...'? It probably is!

Allan has e-mailed me from Dartmoor where he is juggling the 10 Tors, to say enter with a hired one and bring it to the event for him to sort out - can't say fairer really (I'm sure I'll get my hire fee back)

Backup card doesn't give you a start time if a punching start (as I discovered at one evening event) or a finish time....
