Yes, Rob, I didn't follow what you were saying at first. However, from somewhere else on Nopesport related to FCC:
"Those who obtain points this weekend [JOK Sprint] which would see them move into the top 15 of their class would also be invited to the final, but not at the expense of anyone who has already qualified."
I would interpret this as anyone now in the top 15 who wasn't already will go to the FCC Final, without any comparisons to scores after the JK, as it would simply be the top 15 based on the best 3 of 7. But whether this is the case or not, we'll all have to wait. I think there are now 2 in the top 15 of W18 who weren't there after the JK...

I'm not sure what will happen about getting into the final. I assume that I won't be in because thats what the rules say...but do feel its a bit unfair that I should be ahead of Lauren yet she is invited to the final and I'm not...surely this decreases the value of the JOK as an FCC race? I think Victoria Longhurst is in the same position as me too.

...so she was outside the top 15 after JK and now outside the top 15 after JOK, so therefore does not qualify by my understanding of the rules. Gutted! That's annoying. Still both the races are open events so she should come up and run them anyway if she wants, and then beat some of the people who did qualify! It's worth it because Creag Mhic is the bomb.
In response to someone who said this;
The JWOC team has 6 places. Scott and Oleg will be selected. But ANYONE else who comes in the top 3 in BOTH selection races will also be selected. Anyone who wants to run JWOC this year should know that. Come in the top 3 or better still top 2 and you're there. It is wide open especially on the Men's side. Several M18s have been running really well and will challenge for places.
I heard Oleg will get a wildcard to run the races if he wants to and that Scott was informed he could skip the FCC final as long as he ran a junior competition in the UK this year (ie JK)
In response to someone who said this;
think both should be going but also think it should be made clear by the selectors so that someone doesn't think they've done enough in a selection race to be told 'sorry mate you might have come second but you are not going', that's if the selectors bother to tell them at all!

they compete on an equal footing. especially the ones who have been training overdistance all year and will cope well with the full length junior classic course.
for some it will be the toughest classic they have done yet. but i'm sure they will be excited and up for the challenge.
the 18 & 20 startlists are intertwined as well so it isn't like at the JK middle distance where the top juniors got sent out before the seniors to make fools of themselves and show us the way through the speccy 'trols

JWOC selection criteria states:
Junior World Orienteering Championships
Selection for JWOC is based on performance at the FCC Finals. The selectors reserve the right to select two men and two women at their discretion on all known form.
I think that it is very unlikely that someone who came 2nd at the FCC Final would not be selected for the JWOC team as someone else suggested! But then again what would this forum be without some mis-information and rumour!!
